Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Help With Los Angeles Death Record bet. 1910-1920
Thank you, Eric and Cheri. I am trying to find out if this George Beattie is related to our Mary Beattie family (Cheri, the mother of Margaret Walter that we researched a few months ago.) One of the other brother's obit in 1895 listed a brother who lived in LA but the obit never gave the brother's first name and this obit also stated that 4 of the Beattie children came to the US and I thought it was only Mary. Someone recently sent me a couple of Mary's children's wills and lo and behold her brother Thomas and his wife had quick claimed some land to Mary in IL. Funny how these bits and pieces eventually find their way to us genealogist. With an exact date of death now for George, if you can find any more info on him would surely appreciate it. Thank you. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Silva, Viera, Silveira in Gloucester, Massachusetts
Tina-- The Silva part of my family came to Provincetown MA sometime between 1888 and 1890. My great-grandfather Silva was originally from Santa Maria. My mother's paternal grandmother was a Vieira but her family was from Pico. Her two brothers, Francisco & Manuel come to the United States sometime in the 1880's. They ended up just across the Bay from San Francisco. Also the Silveira part of my family was from Pico. I have next to no information on that line. However, I do have a cousin who was from Beverly MA who married a man name Parks, I never met him and they have been divorced for a minimum of 10 years My cousin is now living in Florida. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Silva, Viera, Silveira in Gloucester, Massachusetts
My Silva heritage goes from Calif, to Fall River, to Rio de Janeiro, to Lisbon or Silvas, Portugal. I believe in the district of Alderete. The name Silva comes from a knight and his lands bequeathed by a king. There were also a couple of spanish kings with the surname of Silva. I believe the town of Silvas, located in the SE part of Portugal was that land. I passed through it about 12 years ago and saw a large bronze statue of a knight in the middle of the town that looked just like my brother. Anyway I got my oldest information from the Historical Research Center. Good luck.
