Gail, Before you contact the cemetery office for a picture, I'd check to see if someone has created a memorial for them on Find A Grave. If not, then you can create a memorial and then call the cemetery office to verify that the graves are marked. If they are marked, then click the Request a Photo button on the memorial and a Find A Grave volunteer in the area will take a photo for you for free. www.findagrave.com Cheri Mello Also a Find A Grave volunteer Cheri Mello Listowner, Azores-Gen Researching: Vila Franca, Ponta Garca, Ribeira Quente, Ribeira das Tainhas, Achada -- To unsubscribe from this group, send email to azores+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] marraige records
Oh my God Eric you are an angel, how in the world did you find that obituary? Yes, the son did die at 26 years of age. This obituary now gives me the married names of their daughters. Apparently they seemed to have a another child by the name of John who was born in California. Joseph's wife Rosaline is my grandfathers sister. We all didn't know my grandfather had other brothers and sisters who lived in California except for Ceasar Souza or de Souza. My great grandfather moved to California too but I'm still trying to find out where he is buried. I'm not sure what child he resided with so it is a great mystery. Thanks again for your help. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] marraige records
Thanks for helping me, I live in Hawaii and I just can't fly over to do research so any help I can get I appreciate. I just received both Joe and his son Alfred birth certificates, they are both buried at St. Mary's cemetery in Oakland California. My Uncle Joe died in 1965 and he was already a widow so my Aunty died before that. I wrote to the office of the cemetery and asked them what would they charge to have a photo taken of the graves. I'm hoping my Aunty Rosaline is buried with my Uncle Joe and hopefully find more info. Re: Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] marraige records
Someone has done an extensive study of the Augusto Moniz Lindinha family on Ancestry with great pictures and there is a son Joseph Moniz Lindinha b. 1891-1958 but it doesn't look like yours??? but Augusto Sr. does have children named Caroline, Maria, Isabella, Manuel, John, Augusto Jr., and Guido. The wife they have listed for Joseph is not Rosalina. Sure looks like the same family...very confusing. "E" -- To unsubscribe from this group, send email to azores+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com. Sorry Cheri, I'm always rushing and not very clear. Let me start from the beginning. My grandfathers sister Rosaline de Souza born in 1895 in Hawaii married Joe Moniz Lindinha who was born in 1891 or 1889 in Hawaii also. They married in Hawaii and had 3 children Alfred (1916), Mary (1919) and Adelina (1920) all born in Hawaii. On July 28, 1923 they all moved to California. I don't know if anyone one of them married and had children, so that is why I'm asking any suggestions on what I should do next. Gail, I can find them on 1920 census in Wainaku, HI Joe Lindinha 30 b. 7/5/1889 HI, laborer, sugar farm, Rosalina S. 25 b. HI, Alfred M. 4 1/2?(Hard to read) b. HI, Marie 1 6 1/2 b. HI. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] marraige records
Gail, I'm not clear on your time line. Rosaline marries Joe and they have a son. 26 years after that son's death, they have 2 daughters. But you don't know if Rosaline married Joe? But then you state that they moved with 3 children. But that doesn't make sense because you said their son died at 26 and they had 2 daughters. So these 2 little girls could not have known their big brother. I'd wait for the death certificates to come to see if it sheds any light on your problem. Depending on when Joe died, that death certificate may state the years of his marriage. It it was 30 years, then you can subtract 30 and get the approximate year of his marriage. You may have family stories that suggest either CA or HI as possible marriage locations. [AZORES-Genealogy] marraige records
What is the best method to finding marriage records? I have family from Hawaii that moved to California, my Aunty Rosaline married a Joe Moniz Lindinha. Their son died about 26 years old and they had two daughters. I have no idea where to start to see if they got married. Any suggestions? I know they both moved with their 3 children to California about 1923. I have been trying to see if I could find them in the 1930 census but couldn't. I just ordered Uncle Joe and his son's death certificates from Alameda County, but still couldn't find my aunties. Any tips you can give me would be appreciated.
