Adrian Record 40 is a baptism of Manuel who is the legitimate son of Manuel ? Goulart born on 13 of Sept 1905. [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Happy 7th Birthday to the Azores Genealogy List!
Congratulations on the anniversary and on a very well run site. As a newcomer, might I suggest a sticky with a list of your other sites and some of the more common resources available. I keep finding new resources in some of the old posts here that have been very helpful. Seven years ago, I thought I would wind up with 300 or maybe 350 members. As those numbers approached, I thought maybe 500 would be it. I'm amazed at the number of people doing Azorean genealogy. Too late perhaps, but I have become a very strong advocate of online backup like Carbonite. It works completely in the background, nothing to remember or schedule and you access your files remotely. [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: I think this is my grandmothers Baptism record. Can someone help with Translation.
Research requires specificity, especially, were you to have your document professionally translated; they charge by the time, and the line. Your attachment lists two baptisms, and part of a third, however, you didn't specify which document you wanted translated - anyway, I translated both of the complete pages since I had the time to do so. Here is the first: #84 Maria - fa de Manoel Borges Pires, note that there is a marriage reference in the left margin - I will list that at the end of the baptismal record: On the twenty-eighth day of the month of September in the year one thousand nine hundred and ten in this holy church, parish of Santa Cruz, Matriz of Villa da Praia da Vitoria, Diocese of Angra do Heroismo, I solemnly baptized an individual of the feminine sex, whom I gave the name Maria, who was born in this parish at three o'clock in the morning, on the twenty-second day of the month of September of the aforementioned year, legitimate daughter of Manoel Borges Pires, civil police officer, and, Rosa Candida, occupation domestic, natives and accepted parishioners of this parish, residents at Rua Conde de Villa Flor; paternal granddaughter of Manoel Borges Pires, and, Maria Jose da Silva, and maternal [granddaughter] of Jose Vieira and Rosa Candida. Godfather was Guilherme dos Reyes, married, Administrator of this Council of Praia de Vitoria, and, Godmother Dona Maria do Carmello Toste Nogueira Reys, single, occupation domestic; All is in order, and for the record, I recorded this assent in duplicate, which was read and conferred with me and the godparents who also signed. [Guilherme Reyes; Maria do Carmello T. N. Final entry - 1.50 Praia da Vitoria 15 August 1937 Closed (references unreadable) possibly referred to Lajes (?) ~~~ # 85: Seraphina -fa de Jose Machado Fagundes On the twenty-eighth day in the month of September, in the year one thousand nine hundred and ten, in this holy church in the parish of Santa Cruz, Matriz of Villa da Praia da Vitoria, in the Diocese of Angra do Heroismo, I solemnly baptized an individual of the feminine sex whom I gave the name Seraphina, and who was born in this parish at six o'clock in the morning on the sixteenth day of the current month and year, legitimate daughter of Jose Machado Fagundes, worker, native of this parish, and,of Rosalia Borges Pacheco, occupation domestic, native of the parish of Arcanjo Sao Miguel das Lajes in this Council, accepted parishioners of the aforementioned Santa Cruz, residents in the vicinity of the Ermida de Santa Luiza, paternal granddaughter of Francisco Machado Fagundes, and, Anna de Jesus, and, maternal [granddaughter] of Ventura Borges Pacheco, and, Maria Candida de Barcellos. The godfather was Jose Correa da Costa, married, construction worker; and, the godmother was Maria Luz, married, occupation domestic; All is in order and for the record, I recorded in duplicate this assent, which was read and conferred with me, and the godparents who did not sign because they did not know how to write.
