Mel and Margaret,
I haven't done much on this line in a while and I can't find my records to add
much to what you have. When I saw your post, I knew there was a connection,
just needed to find it. The Furtados, Pimentels and Resendes intermarried a
lot, so it gets confusing. I'm sure there are more connections to find. I
have work to do!

Estevao and Anna had 5 children that I know of: Genoveva, Barbara, Jose,
Joao, and Manoel (I have marriage and some children info. on Barbara, Joao,
and Manoel--I am descended from Manoel) As far as I know, Genoveva was
their first child, born 9 Jan 1757, Achada.

I've gone through the marriages from 1747 to 1764 in Achada thus far. I'd
be surprised to find them before 1747 unless I find there were more
children. I fear the marriage is in that 2 year gap where there are no
records.

Thanks for any help or ideas. I'm not sure I want to tackle Fenais da Luz
just yet.

years, I am wondering if it would behoove me to look in the other spouse's
 village.

Are you more likely to find marriages in the bride or groom's place of
birth? Were there any traditions dictating a practice or did it depend on
the couple and the families involved?

 Thanks!

The record is bottom left and top right on the page. I think the child’s

natives of Cedros and parish of St. Barbara. I think it says paternal
 grandparents are Domingos Furtado and Josefa Maria (not sure of her name);
Maternal Jose Silveira de Mattos and Maria Ignacia. Birth date looks like 31

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Furtado/Pimentel, Achada--help with names on marriage record please

2014-05-29 Thread IslandRoutes
Richard,
As yet, I don't have those people in my database. However, I know I have
seen the names and I am still working through my notes comparing them to my
database. I have a Heronyma Pimentel, but she is daughter of Manoel Correa
Symas and Agueda (aka Agada) Pimentel. She married Manoel Furtado in Achada
9 Dec 1713. I also have a Domingas Pimentel but he is son of Sebastiam
Pimentel and Barbara de Rezende. This Domingas also married a Barbara de
Rezende (though same time period). Close but not close enough!

I am curious about Braz Costa Loureiro. I have Costa Loureiro in Maia in
the 1600 and 1700s. Does Braz link to Maia?

Yes that is interesting. Although I think her maiden name was Jacinta

Thanks Terry Sentinella

will go back again and check through what I have (just in case) I don't
have her death record because it wouldn't be available online (circa 1942)
. Funny though how two people with almost the exact same name were born in
the same place and died in the same place. Maybe there is a connection
 somewhere along the lines.

 Barbara,

Are you referring to Lagoa on Sao Miguel island? There's a church
there named Nossa Senhora do Rosario.

If you are trying to find a cemetery burial record, you most likely
won't. Unless the family has been paying a fee all these years, the
 grave
has been reused for someone more recently deceased.
