Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Biscoitos Terceira Berberea 1872 Marriage

2015-10-04 Thread Sandra Valine Dauer
Philppe I'm amazed again for all your research and sharing of the
Ahnentafel Chart for my Great-Great Grandfather Antonio Ferreira Berberia.
The report extends my lines more than I could do in my lifetime.
1.--Your #16, Pedro Enes Berbeira, I have a death date of 24 Jan 1710,
Saint Beatris, Quatro Ribeiras.
Source: Livro de Obitos, Quatro Ribeiras, l.#2: 1702-1976, F40V & f41.
(found by David E. Bertao) For his wife, Maria Alves, I also have 11 Oct
1706.
2.--Your #32, Pedro Enes Berberea I have the death date as of 08 Jun 1678.
Source: Livro de Obitos, Quatro Ribeiras, L. #1: 1684-1702 (Fragmentos de
Livros) (found by David E Bertao)
I do not have death date for his wife Maria Lourenco.
3.--Your #12 Nicolao Borges Coelho and #13 Maria de Sao Joao, 12 Feb 1711
marriage. I am unable to find this reference online Terceira Marriage
index. Your appendex sources are very good; however #10 ph 128. The index
list different name and date for 128. Please clarify or help me find the
reference. Thank you. Thank you Sandra Valine Dauer

Debra,
Thank you for the link. Yes, we found it a few years ago and that led us
to the marriage license information. The marriage license showed where
Velma lived at the time, her age and that she was divorced. A true wealth
of information that we did not know before that.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Revoredo and Paiva in capelas

2015-10-04 Thread 'Jazz' via Azores Genealogy
JR,
Thank you so much for taking an interest in my plight.

I'm very new to all things genealogy so I'm not clear as to the format you are
asking. Therefore, I will break it down the best way I know how.

My maternal grandmother: Agueda Encarnacoa Revoredo
Her parents: Manuel de Luz Revoredo (B unknown, D approx 1973) -Parents unknown
and Maria Jorge (B may 11, 1905 to Joao Jorge Vincente & Jacquina de forseca-
birth record found in Candelaria) dies approx 1970

My maternal grandfather: Antonio Paiva b 1928 - d 1977
His parents: Jose Paiva (D approx 1958) and Maria do carmo pereira (D approx
1968)

It looks like I can go further with Maria Jorge's, but have been focussing on
the men.

Unfortunately this is all I have to work with. I have notes of researching the
area you suggest as I too thought the same thing. But it was not fruitful. I
will try again. Maybe for the parents.

Capelas is where I am from and everyone died in Capelas. Paiva is from Sete
Cidades. Revoredo unknown, and Pereira unknown. Can you say brick wall?? Very
discouraging.

I can add to the 2nd page and to what Bill Seider wrote and as I read
.George (Jorge) Pereira de.Lacerda that he was leaving the "terça" which
translates to one third of his wealth/estate to his wife, Ana? Gomes during her
life and after his wife their sons George (Jorge) Pereira and Joseph (Jose)
Pereira "com obrigacao selada" with sealed obligation of giving to his Pedro
Dutra "quatro mil reis" 4 thousand kings (monetary) and to leave more
...his son Manuel Dutra under the condition ...left one slave by the

This handwriting is very difficult, but I think I can make out some parts. I
agree with what Shirley wrote, but I would lean more towards 70 years of age.
I cannot find where it says who he was married to as it seems to go directly
into his will. There is something about leaving something for his soul then
mentions a chapel (capela, 6th line from bottom of first page) of ?? for poor
children (I think it says crianças pobres on next line). The first line on the
second page identifies the executor (testamenteiro) as his son George Pedro
(Dutra) Lacerda (I think Dutra was written after-the-fact in the right margin).
I also see the name Margarida on the sixth line from the bottom but do not
know where this person fits in.

Not much, but I hope it helps.

[AZORES-Genealogy] translation help please

I don't speak portuguese. I understand very basics and have the names off

baptized are from as well as whether the dates listed are for the birth or
the baptism. Any help is appreciated.

It is the record on the top right page, No 42.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] translation help please

2015-10-04 Thread Cheri Mello
Number 42 start on the BOTTOM LEFT and it is on the bottom left where the
baptism date appears. I'm pretty sure every language in the world beings
with reading the first line first.

The parents' baptisms aren't given but where the are from is given. It's
usually where they are baptized though. Dad is from Agualva and mom is from
"deste freguesia" meaning this freguesia (village).

Baptism date is on line on on the BOTTOM LEFT. Birth date is on end of line
7 on the top right page. Since in the duplicate message you said you are
fluent in Spanish, you'll get it.

Since you know Spanish, then all you need is the Portuguese Word List and
the format of the records.
The Portuguese Word List is here: https://goo.gl/Z8916M
Format of the records: http://goo.gl/ayTFMJ

You'll be able to recognize place names if you have a map to refer to:
http://goo.gl/bHepuX

Good luck!

There are 2 dates. The birth date says 8 Nov of the current year. And you
know what year you are in because these books are sorted by year! That's
nice when that happens!
