I have all the documents. Everything matches. It appears that the priest may
have been mistaken or forgotten about the grandparents seeing as how the two
youngest were 7 years apart.

Thanks

[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Terceira Marriage Index

2016-12-15 Thread linda
Hi Louie,

I have a Windows 8 PC, and I've found that the Windows Reader app
(preinstalled on windows 8 and 10 machines) is a better tool for searching
the Terceira Marriage Index than Adobe's PDF reader. The Reader App was a
little harder for me to figure out, but worth it for me. You might try a
different PDF reader and see if it works better for you too. There are
also some other free PDF readers that are said to be very good, but I don't
have experience of them.

hope that helps,

Linda

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Terceira Marriage Index

2016-12-15 Thread Cheri Mello
Louie,

You forgot to post the web site.

Files like that would be done in PDF. Everyone can read a PDF (or get Adobe
Reader for free to open it), but not everyone has Microsoft's Excel
program. Also, a PDF file cannot be changed or edited for the most part.

If I remember correctly though, that marriage file was 2000, 3000, 4000
pages long! It was a huge file. I know I viewed it and was able to search
it. I'm a keyboard person, so I probably held the Ctrl key + the F (Control
Find - Command + F on a Mac) and typed in whatever name I wanted. Probably
in modern Portuguese. So there would be no entries for Mello, since that is
the old spelling. I'd have to look under Melo.

I haven't looked at that file in a while though and I don't remember the
host site that had it. I thought I bookmarked it, but I guess not.

2016-12-15 Thread LouieLouieOhOh
I have found that looking for relatives marriages using the Terciera
marriage index can be a little tricky using a "pdf" file.
The file itself has been extremely valuable and helpful!

Does anyone know if the file is also in another format? Like a text file or
spreadsheet?

File in question:

"bparah-indices-casamentos_da_Ilha_Terceira.pdf"

I downloaded the file from this website.

I would appreciate some guidance.

2016-12-15 Thread Margaret Vicente
Monica, did you get the parents marriage record? This will give you the
answer. Indeed you may have the wrong document. If you attach the link or
provide place and date someone may be able to help with the answer

Most likely reason is that you have the wrong baptism. You did not provide
a family group sheet nor list names and dates, so it's just about
impossible to help you evaluate the evidence.

Enter them into your genealogy program, have it print out a family group
sheet, and copy and paste it into a group message. Then go and get the URLs
and paste them, stating things like Anna, upper right (or record #10, if
numbered) etc.

[AZORES-Genealogy] conflicting baptismal records

2016-12-15 Thread 'Monica C' via Azores Genealogy
 Hello Group!

I have an interesting situation.

I found my great grandfathers baptismal record – so excited!

I expanded my search to siblings…I found 3 others. Two other boys and 1
girl –super excited!

Excitement quickly turned to confusion…

My great grandfather is Jose.

His father is Joao.

Jose’s grandparents (Joao parents) on his baptismal record is listed as
“avos incognito”.

On all the other siblings for Jose, the grandparents names are listed.

Jose is the youngest.

Would anyone know why his record would not have his paternal grandparents
names but all of his siblings did?

Thanks
Monica
