misspelled Lajes.  It definitely looks like Lagoas at first glance.

do a look up, but more information is needed.

Antonio was one of six children born to  Manuel de Fraga and Maria Pimentel
that I have found. It's a common occurrence for a child to have a different
surname than his father. It may be from his mother's family , or his
father's maternal family.

The title of the book explains a lot. "Registration Book MUNICIPALITY of Ponta 
Delgada, Azores, Portugal." That would have to be Sao Miguel island. The other 
Ponta Delgada on Flores island is not a "municipality" (concelho) but a 
freguesia (village) in the concelho of Santa Cruz. It would still be nice to 
see a scan of this, just for curiosity sake.

On the island of Sao Miguel, there are 6 Registo Civil (Civil Registry) - what 
you could call a town hall. They have records there from about 1915 to the 
present. They are not a research facility though. You are in a time period 
though that you don't need the Civil Registry. The older records are over at 
the Arquivo e Biblioteca. It's located on the top floor. They will sit you down 
and put you on the computer to view the records which you can do right now.
