Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Another Altares baptism were I need helpreading the relationship of the godparents to the child

2018-08-04 Thread bsei2816
Hi Doreen,

I suspect the Francisco and Beatriz couple you have in your database is the
correct couple (parents of the brother/sister godparents) and the priest
simply made a mistake by repeating the godmother's name instead of her
mother's. I do not find a Francisco Gonçalves Velho marrying a MARIA do
Espirito Santo on the Terceira marriage index, but there is one marrying a
BEATRIZ do Espirito Santo (which you know because you put it in another
post)

Furthermore, in a quick scan I found three children from this couple.

(Francisco, bottom left)

(Maria, top right)

(Joam, bottom left)
I think it likely that the Francisco and Maria above are Narcisa's
godparents and the priest just made a mistake on their mother's name.

I hope this helps.

Bill

2018-08-04 Thread Cheri Mello
Good job George!
I wonder what their plans are for overcoming the lack of room. They cannot
accept any more records from any other Civil Registries as they are out of
room.

I have some ideas on how to rearrange their archive and make more room!

[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Help reading this Altares Marriage record from 1825

2018-08-04 Thread bsei2816
Hi Doreen,

I see the same names you do and I believe the bride's parents are Francisco
Martins Diaz and Rosa da Trinidade.

I wouldn't assume just yet that your database has a mistake. The priest
may have mistakenly repeated the daughter's (the godmother of Narcisa) name
"Maria do Espirito Santo" instead of her mother's name which your database
and the above marriage suggest is Beatriz.

Good luck,
Bill

It says the godparents Francisco Gonçalves Velho and his sister Maria do
Espirito Santo; and thay they are children of Francisco Gonçalves Velho and his
wife Maria do Espirito.  It doesn't give their relationship to the baby.  There
is not Beatriz named.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Pacheco Marques Genealogy

2018-08-04 Thread Michael Giffin
This is so exciting, thank you!

A cousin recently sent me this note: "Evan recently did his DNA with
Ancestry.com and started to put his family tree together. He showed me this
name that came up for grandpa Joseph's father as Gonsalves Galego. Could
it be that we thought his first name was his last name which is why we
could not find any info on him?"

Joseph is the second son of Maria Pacheco Marques and her first husband, of
whom we know nothing, but the 1900 Census gives the child's last name as
Goncalves. Is there a connection between this and the Gonsalves Galego
mentioned above?

[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Another Altares baptism were I need help reading the relationship of the godparents to the child

2018-08-04 Thread bsei2816
It says the godparents Francisco Gonçalves Velho and his sister Maria do
Espirito Santo; and thay they are children of Francisco Gonçalves Velho and
his wife Maria do Espirito. It doesn't give their relationship to the
baby. There is not Beatriz named.

Godmother is the daughter of the Godfather. They are paternal grandfather
and paternal aunt to the baptized child.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Need the relationship of the godparents to the baby born in Altares 1852

Good morning, I need help reading the relationship of the godparents of
Francisco, son of Jose Borges Franco and Maria da Luz. I know that the
godfather is the paternal grandfather Salvador Borges Franco but the godmother
is not the wife I have listed for Salvador. I have Salvador married to Antonia
Joaquina. The Beatris da Luz listed as godmother is a new name. I wonder if she
is a maternal aunt instead of the wife Salvador. I do not have the parents for
Maria da Luz, mother of the baby, Francisco. Jose had children with two women.
I have not been able to find the marriage record of Jose and Maria da Luz. His
other wife is Isabel Maria do Espirito Santo. Thank you for you help.
You will find Francisco’s baptism record on the left side.
