island of Santa Maria and of his wife/woman Francisca Umbelina de
Figueiredo, native of the matrix of our Lady of Assumption of this island,
residents of Alto de Ponente (actually 'Alto Poente', at the end of this
parochial (yes, parish) of San Pedro, paternal, I mean to say, paternal
grandson of Jose Francisco de Fontes and of Maria dos Prazeres , both of
this parochial and maternal of Antonio Jose de Figueiredo,
'Alfaiate'=tailor  , and of his first wife, Margarida Roza natural of this
same matrix, born on the 18 day of the month of January of the year 1844
and was baptized on the 24th of the same month in this parochial of his
parents by me Manoel Coelho (abbreviation Vo or Uo., maybe for Vasco or
Urbano) de Bettencourt, priest of her and godparents were, the very
Reverend Omnibusman Vicar himself, Bernardino Jose Toledo and witnesses
were Joao Maria de Sousa and his brother, Luis Maria de Sousa, both single
and residents at the end of this parochial (parish) that with me signed
this on the same day, month and year as above.
