Bragança, March 26 1917 Marcelo De: Carolyn M carolynmoro...@gmail.com Para: azores@googlegroups.com Enviadas: Sábado, 13 de Junho de 2015 10:06 Assunto: [AZORES-Genealogy] Help with translation of passport from Braganca, dated March 26, 1917 Any help with translating this passport would be greatlyappreciated. This is the passport of the grandfather of my cousin’scousin. The passport is listed underFrancisco Manuel Aleixo on the top left on left page. Francisco is No. 130. This passport would be the fourth passport Ifound on him. I have found 4/1/1902,12/22/1910 and 11/21/1919 with his family accompanying him. On this passport, it says that he is going to France and nofamily is accompanying him. I can’t readwhere he is going in France or the explanation. I do see where it mentions a decree of some sort. Would this have anything to do with World War1? Here is the link and the name of the file. So the link will take you to the book, andthen you will have to scroll down to find that .tif file. This is a bit cumbersome…I’m sorry but Idon’t know of another way to quickly get to the document. http://digitarq.adbgc.arquivos.pt/viewer?id=1289826 PT-ADBGC-AC-GCBGC-PAS-077-1149J_m0484.tif Thank you,Carolyn -- For options, such as changing to List, Digest, Abridged, or No Mail (vacation) mode, log into your Google account and visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/Azores. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Portuguese name for Henry?
Mary, Henry is Henrique for sure. Marcelo Enviada do meu iPhone Em 10/06/2015, às 15:36, Mary Pimentel Wheeler pimwh...@gmail.com escreveu: I have an old family pic with an ancestor named Henry Souza printed on the back. My grandmother referred to him as Uncle Henry as well, so he must have gone by that name in the early 1900's in the US. I'm pretty sure he was born on Pico, but not sure of the village. I want to search CCA for him, since I have approximate birth date range (1881-1883), but don't know what first name I should be looking for. Is there a Portuguese name that might have been changed to Henry when they came to the US? thank you! -- For options, such as changing to List, Digest, Abridged, or No Mail (vacation) mode, log into your Google account and visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/Azores. Lillian, ... cemitério, tendo sido encomendada e acompanhada. 'Encomendada' means that the religious service has been done, and 'acompanhada', means that the funeral cerimony was assisted by the people (priest, family, friends, etc).
