Thank you, Cheri and Rosemarie, for the wonderful conference experience you 
provided in SLC. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting folks with a shared research 
focus. Cheri, I can't thank you enough for the lectures on DNA that 
provided a clear and concise understanding of a very complicated subject 
matter. And Rosemarie, your presentation of the Portuguese-American Digital 
Newspaper Collection has already led me to find my 2x great grandfather 
mentioned in a Bay Area newspaper, yippee! 

My old beagle wasn't doing too well when I returned home. On Saturday, I 
found myself sharing tears with vets, techs, and other hospital staff 
believing Labor Day Weekend would be Snoopy's last. A week later he is 
doing much better and he has surprised everyone with his turn around. 
Instead of a 12-1/2-year-old beagle, I must have a "cat" with 9 lives!

Ditto!  It was wonderful!  Everyone was excellent and so nice!  Fun seeing 
Cheri and Rosemarie, Susan, Paula and Dennis again. Finally able to meet Kathy 
in person!  Hope I didn't leave anyone  out!  Also, met some other wonderful 
attendees and possible new cousins!  What fun!  It was very informative spent 
with some very nice people!  I encourage all who can to attend the next 
conference.!

Ally, Nah, I think I was more shocked than anything. If I had a minute it
would have dawned on me who you were, but with everything that goes on at a
conference, I don't have a whole lot of time to think about it!

We're aiming for Spring 2019 (18 months). The Salt Lake Institute of
Genealogy (SLIG) will have a Portuguese course (mainly paleography and

After a few years of missing out on attending the Azores Conference, it was
so good to be able to reconnect with those who attended the first
conference, way back when.  A note of laughter --- Cheri has worked with me
over the years, since the first few conferences.  She hasn't seen me in a
few years, so when I went up to say "Hello" (with a much longer hair style)
she was totally clueless who I was.  She read my name tag, and we both got
a chuckle.
