2019-12-25 Thread Ângela Loura
Merry Christmas everyone.

PS: my grandfather learnt how to use a laptop and Skype at 94 to be in
contact with his younger and last living brother in Brazil, his daughter in
Lisbon, another daughter in the Azores, a son in Namibia, and another
daughter in Belgium, and all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It
was a blessing for him over the last 5 years to be close to him family in a
new and diferent way, and i know it made a huge difference in his life
until his last day in this world.

Boas Festas! 🎅

Greetings from sub-freezing Pittsburgh (the one in PA., not the one
without an "H" in CA.). I'm sure getting saudades for my native
California when reading some of your comments above. An Azorean-born
friend who's lived in California since he was a kid visited here last
weekend, couldn't believe how cold it was (high of 24°F), coitado. I
never experienced falling snow or sub-freezing temps till I was 21
and, believe me, this four-distinct-seasons propaganda one sometimes
hears is just a canard (probably invented by chamber of commerces).
Everyone have a warm, healthy, happy holiday season. Katharine.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Merry Christmas

2010-12-24 Thread Maria Lima
Marilyn, I see you are searching Machado. Me, too.

Fm Sao Miguel but not sure which church/freguesia
I have Emilia moniz married to Jacintho Machado; their son Domingos born 1871
and immigrated to Boston and was (according to my mother-in-law) "raised by
the Jesuits.". Being that he went to Tufts U and became a dentist, the Jesuit
education makes sense.

I found his marriage certificate but cannot find his parents so I cannot
continue the line. I've traced his brother, Clem who changed his name to
Marshall. But just don't know where to look to find info on parents.

Whenever i see someone on the list searching machado, i hope there's a
connection. Any match?

Merry Christmas (our son is in Draper). Close to u?
