Nancy, There is a Joao Dias Teixeira in the index with about 5 or 6 references. 
I looked up one and he is married to an Ines Lourenco, that's not to say he 
didn't marry your girl later (or before!). I don't have time to look at the

that info. I bought the two book set several years ago from a book dealer in 
Lisbon. There may be someone on the list that knows of the PDF. You might also 
try Hathitrust.org (it's the U of Mich digital website) for the books. Sorry I 
don't have more info on the books. They are well worth buying if you have 
people from Calheta.

My Grandmother always told me that her Parents were from Portal, Sao Jorge 
... it was so sparsely populated that sometimes they had a baptism in 
Calheta, sometimes Ribeira Seca, Norte Pequeno, Norte Grande ... Makes it 
so hard but very rewarding when it comes through!
