[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Topo Marriage
To me it looks like the bride is the widow of Mateus Nunes. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Topo marriage Help please fill in the blanks - translation
Thank you so much. I had decided it must be the birthdate of the groom and I did find it before I got your post. I do very much your responding to my questions and the help with the translation. It's the groom's birth date (o contraente). I haven't seen birth dates on marriages before, but if you look at the next record it gives for both groom (o contraente) and bride (a contraente). Maybe they could leave the bride's off of your record because she was a widow. The word before Villa de Calheta is termo, which in this case means district (or within the district boundaries of the concelho of Calheta) Anyway, since the record give the groom's place of birth (Ribeira Seca) and date of birth (13 Oct 1795) his baptism was easy to find. http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SJR-CH-RIBEIRASECA-B-1792-1800/SJR-CH-RIBEIRASECA-B-1792-1800_item1/P49.html (middle, right side) I wish all records were like that.
