13th of March; note the e at end of treze. Note the father is from Bretanha 
and the mother, Antonia Jacintha is from Ginetes. Godfather is o tio 
(uncle), Joao Pavao e sua mulher Gertrudes de Jesus. So Joao Pavao is the 
brother of Antonia Jacinta.

There's 3 Manuels on that page. I hope you are looking at the left side,
3rd entry.

"de Jesus" is the paternal grandmother. The maternal is Francisca de Jesus.

1) Yes, information is correct.
2) No, if the person is married, you will not see the parents listed. Nor
is his actual birth. It says he's 70 more or less, so they are just
guessing.

Below the + is some information about his burial. I'm not familiar with
Faial, so I'm not sure of the locations. There's also something in their
about his brother.

And he received his sacraments before dying.

I think I’ve translated the body of this document fairly well but; I’m having 
trouble translating the sidebar.  It’s the one on the left, No 2, Maria.  I 
think it says she died on the 8 day of January 1885, (the same day she was 
born) in the parish of Sao Pedro, obit #30. However; I was unable to find the 
obit.  It also says something about 8 March 1962.

Hi Edna, 

Yes, I think this is the same Emilia that married José.  All the dates seem 
to match up.  It says that Emilia married José Garcia do Santo(?) in Horta 
September 7, 1927 and that she passed away in the parish of Castelo Branco 
in Horta on March 8, 1967.

Thank you Rosemarie!  You've solved a mystery for us already.  We had no 
knowledge Manuel was married twice - now we know why we have a child for 
him and Emilia (Joze) born in 1866 - who was actually Anna's child.  He 
(Joze) reported Emilia as his mother when he immigrated in 1906 (she raised 
him, so he considered her to be his mother).

Lee, 

So happy that the problem is solved! This happened a lot. A woman died in 
childbirth and the husband remarried soon (as he had a baby to care for) and 
the woman he married as a second wife was the “mother” to that baby. Maybe Jose 
didn’t even know Emilia wasn’t his Mom. You might want to go back in the 
marriage records and find the 1st marriage to see if there were any other 
children besides Jose born to that couple.

Hi Lee, 

I believe the names to be Manuel Bernardo Teixeira, age 40 years, widower of 
Anna Botelho marrying Emilia Flora de Medeiros dau of Manuel Furtado de 
Medeiros and Feliciana de Medeiros. Manuel Bernardo Teixeira is then listed as 
the legit son of Bernardo Teixeira and Victoria Maria.

Rosa de Medeiros.  I know that the date is January 26, 1871 in Agua Retorta.  
Having trouble seeing his parents names which are supposed to be Bernardo and 
Vitoria Maria  Teixeira and Manuel Furtado de Medeiros and Feliciana de 
Medeiros (though I can see her name).  Just need to confirm the grooms full 
name and his parents names.

Item #3 on the first attachment and top left of 2nd attachment.

You have her parents' names correct. And, for his parents I see Manuel Bernardo 
Teixeira and Emilia Rosa de Medeiros. Not, Victoria. At least that's what it 
looks like on my iPhone.

start at 1777 and they are the first entry it would be safe to assume that
it was 1777. Pity about the state of the page.
