Sorry to jump in on this thread, but I noticed a reference to a Martins Gouveia family from Rabo de Peixe. I am looking for information on my Grandmother's line from that area and she went by Martins only here in the States while I now know that she had brothers who used both last names. One brother even ended up in Bermuda. Can you be of any help to me? It would break down a huge brick wall because, according to my Mom, she never wanted to discuss her family at all. Thanks Cheri and Altino for responding so quickly. I think it might be Moranha or Morenha because the second vowel looks like other middle of the word "a"s. Maybe a misspelling of Morenha as an alcunha. There are some Pereira Moranhas that are listed as arriving in Hawai'i. Maybe someone else has an idea.
