Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] RR book
San Leandro has one or two of the volumes, but they do not loan them out. All of these places have been "burned" by people not returning the books. It's been a while since I have been to San Leandro, but it's a very nice place to visit, and the ladies were helpful, too. The library is kind of a mishmash of Portuguese stuff, most not dedicated to genealogy. There are books you can take out. Fiction, cookbooks, travel books etc. On Fri, Jan 6, 2017 at 5:50 PM, Cheri Mello wrote: > OK, so the teacher in me says you want the word "circulate" not "loan." > The FHL in SLC does not circulate their books either. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] RR book
Most books in the FHL do not circulate. The FHL in SLC has only Vol. 1 in hard copy and it's the only one in the whole FHL system. They don't have all 5 or 6. WorldCat.org shows this: [image: Inline image 1] [image: Inline image 2] That's due to the way the libraries catalog the title. It's only volume 1 though. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] RR book - Errors and Ommissions
We got 2 records for Roza with the same parents. Check this out: http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-VF-PONTAGARCA-B-1739-1752/SMG-VF-PONTAGARCA-B-1739-1752_item1/P142.html Will my Rosa Maria please make herself known? I'm confused. I find it hard to believe that there could be another set of parents with the same name in PG. Could the earlier or later record be a child that may have passed ...probably the first? I don't have an orbit record for her either, so not sure if that could help determine if one past away and the next girl was named the same name? Just a guess. Would love your thoughts. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] RR book - Errors and Ommissions
Looks like most of that list was copied from me and Shirley Allegre. We are the ones that researched that line as we come from Cipriano do Rego and Antonia Barboza. We found 8 children for them. We never found a son named Francisco for Cipriano & Antonia. We never found the baptism of Rosa Maria. The October 1751 date is probably too close to the Feb. 1751 date of the sibling Theresa. We found the SECOND baptism of Jose on 8 Jan 1780 (he married 20 Jan 1780). We did the research years ago and I'd have to pull the image up, but I think it says it was his 2nd baptism. And we were not sure that he died 30 April 1829 in PG. We have that as a possible date that needs further research (I think we found another Jose Barboza running around - it's been many years since we've worked this line). We have the marriage dates and spouses of all except for Anna. We have a few of their deaths. = As for RR.Hugo Moreira wanted to go back through and double check all of RR's work. I believe he did that for volume 1. It didn't happen for the other volumes. Hugo died and their was some argument about publishing the remaining books of RR which finally happened. No fact checking was done. So it's up to us to check it ourselves. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] RR book - Errors and Ommissions
I think it is an omission. Keep in mind that Rodrigo Rodrigues never considered his work finished. It was always a work in progress. He worked on it for decades and eventually got old and did less and less. It remained in an unedited version for many, many years after his death. So what you have is what he had at the time of his death. Here is what I have in my data base which I have not independently verified, so be warned; however, I very much respect and trust the researcher. Modified Register for Cipriano doRego First Generation 1. Ciprianodo Rego was born on 24 Jul 1723 inPonta Garca- NS Piedade. He was christened on 27 Jul 1723 in Ponta Garca, SaoMiguel, Azores. Here are the specifics: My 4th great grandparents Rosa Maria Barbosa married Francisco Furtado in 1775, Ponta Garca, Sao Miguel. The marriage record clearly states her parents as Ciprianno do Rego and Antonia Barbosa of Vila Franca who married in 1745. Ciprianno and Antonia are in RR's book and can be found in Cap. 240, section 2-6. Only 4 kids are listed and their daughter Rosa Maria Barbosa is not in RR's book. There are two possibilities here: 1. There is an omission in RR's book 2. I have the wrong parents for Rosa Maria Barbosa. I only found her marriage record that has the correct parents names but didn't find her birth record. I definitely need to put more energy to finding it to prove via another document that this is indeed her parents in RR's book. I suppose a third possibility is the another couple with the same names, dates and places but that's hard to believe. This is my question: Is there a list somewhere of verified and confirmed omissions and errors in RR's book? Also, is there anyone else on this list with the same ancestor? If it's confirmed that Rosa Maria Barbosa parents are indeed Ciprianno Rego and Antonia Barbosa then the line leads to Joao Afonso das Grotas Fundas which is an entire separate post in and of itself.
