The whole idea of the /programmes and /schedule sections of bbc.co.uk are
they are permanent links to the content, so that inbound links never expire.

There are some programmes that have caused 'problems' when they appear in
different forms. Omnibus episodes are one, but also there are cross-media
programmes (Doctor Who and Torchwood are both on TV and radio) and
cross-service programmes (Top Of The Pops stills runs on World Service
radio).

There are lots of useful things /programmes/ can do, for example sticking
/microsite on the end of the URL redirects you to the full site for a
programme that has one.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/programmes/schedules/fm

Shows today's Radio 4 FM schedule, but you can add .xml on the end to get a
feed.

There is also the podcast, you can get the RSS here:

You can try my Accessible BBC iPlayer program:
http://www.webbie.org.uk/accessiblebbc/index.htm

It lists BBC programmes available by station. Just double-click to
play. Needs RealPlayer. Needs RealPlayer.

Oh, and it needs RealPlayer.

They are permanent. We hope and intend that they'll be around for as

Archers Omnibus is http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qnkc.
Hopefully one day we can offer a way to group those two together but

2009-07-15 Thread Richard Jennings
there are program codes, series codes and episode codes. The best answer to
your original question I can think of, is to use rss feeds to get episode
codes from program codes, then use iplayer to play them. I don't know if it
is still possible to reference a program with a code and automatically get
the most recent show. It should be using rss feeds, but that will take some
programming know how.

Thanks Brian, do you know if these are actual 'static' links? That is, if I
click on b006qpgr next week (or even tomorrow) will it display the current
Archers episodes available? (Of course, I will check tomorrow to see the
links are still valid).

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qpgr/episodes/player seems more
comprehensive but still does not include the Omnibus.

PS If it is a static link (which would be great) would
