[BackupPC-users] Erasing backups in the middle of a Full Keep Count chain (Problem?)
Perhaps it should be documented that "Full Keep Count" system needs perfect backup day overlap or it's backups in the middle of a keep chain gets erased. Full Period 6.97 Full Keep Count 4, 0, 1, 0, 1, 1 4 pr. week (7 days, 28 days in total) 0 pr. 2 weeks (14 days) 1 pr. 4 weeks (28 days) 0 pr. 8 weeks (56 days) 1 pr. 16 weeks (112 days) 1 pr. 32 weeks (224 days) 32 weeks 30 fullyes 0 27/9 03:00 272.7 351.4 16 weeks 254 fullyes 0 11/5 21:00 144.5 123.7 4 weeks 338 fullyes 0 3/8 23:00 114.5 39.6 1of4 352 fullyes 0 17/8 23:00 162.2 25.6 2of4 359 fullyes 0 25/8 01:00 163.6 18.5 3of4 366 fullyes 0 1/9 06:00 145.6 11.3 367 incrno 1 2/9 06:00 23.710.3 368 incrno 2 3/9 06:00 31.19.3 369 incrno 3 4/9 06:00 50.58.3 370 incrno 4 5/9 06:00 61.47.3 371 incrno 5 6/9 06:00 39.96.3 372 incrno 6 7/9 06:00 109.9 5.3 4of4 373 fullyes 0 8/9 06:00 202.6 4.3 374 incrno 1 9/9 06:36 23.23.3 375 incrno 2 10/9 06:00 24.42.3 376 incrno 3 11/9 06:00 26.61.3 377 incrno 4 12/9 06:00 26.30.3 The oldest backup is pretty far away from the half a year I expected. So in a few days we make another full backup. 1of4 becomes 4 weeks 4 weeks is at 4x days not matching 112 days so is erased? Not until 16 weeks reach 32 weeks and gets promoted to 32, do I get 4 weeks promoted to 16. If I had gone with a system stopping at 16 weeks, I would only get the very first backup ever made retained as 16 weeks. I had to sit down with crayons and cardboard and draw myself a pretty picture before I got clued in, Full Keep Count is complicated and if it's mentioned it will erase backups in the middle of the Full Keep Count chain, then I missed it. - This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ ___ BackupPC-users mailing list BackupPC-users@lists.sourceforge.net List:https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/backuppc-users Wiki:http://backuppc.wiki.sourceforge.net Project: http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/

[BackupPC-users] archive schedule
Hi! I have backuppc configured and running, backing up every production server. the backups where storage in a backup server and, periodically, I run manually an archive to tape drive. I'm tring to schelude the archive but i'm not able to find documentation about that. Backuppc can't schelude archives? thanks -- Aitor Carrera Hernández - Edosoft Factory System Integration Dept.
