Is anyone else checking the .sig file against the
tar.gz source file? I can't check it against any
keyserver. Can someone tell me what keyserver
actually has the info these days?

I don't use the binary version of Bacula. Simply
download the source code - untar it - first comand =
./configure --client-only - second command = make
make install.  That is it.

 will work but it´s running
  more than a year on 3 of our main WinNT-Servers

  nuking them at all ;) - Dependig of getting the
 keyword Full or not (from
  bacula) it would search for archive-flags and set
 timestemp to such files so
  it seems newer. Not everybody like that because
 many files look like new
  files than.
  It can write a bacula-readable filelist of all
 found files in the same run
  too (so there is a snapshot-listing of the current
 backup) which can be used
  for a full-server restore after some incremental
 filesets without restoring
  tons of duplicate data. However last time we tried
 to restore a server with

 of bacula).

  Syntax would be following:

  C:\tmp

  In the bacula-dir.conf (Job section):
  Client Run Before Job = prebck -r -q -t -i %l e:/
 -f
  c:/bacula/filelist.txt

  If you like it please send me information and I
 can send it to you

  Bacula doesn't use system account passwords for

 Your passwords do not match.

 You need this entry in bacula-dir.conf:

 Client {
   Name   = undef-fd
   Address= undef.example.org
   Catalog= MyCatalog
   Password   = PasswordForUndef
 }

 to match this entry in bacula-fd.conf:

 Director {
   Name = bacula-dir
   Password = PasswordForUndef
 }

 Where bacula-dir appears at the top of your
 bacula-dir.conf file,
 like this:

 Director {# define
 myself
   Name = bacula-dir

 Does that help?

 Don't worry about MD5-hash, but you can do that if
 you wish.

 Thank you for catching that. Now, with what I have

 create clean altered src that will compile
 check_bacula, then send you

 You either did a markdir, which will not mark the
 files under the directory,
 or the directory was empty. This is indicated by
 the fact that the restore
 expected only one file to be restored. The number
 of files to be restored
 and the Volumes to be mounted are both printed
 before the restore job starts.

Re: [Bacula-users] Bacula backup error!

2006-08-14 Thread Zakai Kinan
I see the error with show warnings; as well in the
mysql cli, but I am still not sure what it means
because I have space on the hardrive. The storage
engine can sometimes refer to myisam or innodb. The
maximum storage on these are in the terabytes so that
is why I am still confused.

any more thoughts would be appreciated!

  The result is that I can't back anything up or do
 any
  restore. This problem started happening last
 Tuesday
  after a massive power failure. I don't believe
 the
  power causes this error. My bacula database is
 3.6GB

  definitive. I have plenty of space on my
 hardrives.

 You can use the perror command to translate mysql
 error codes:

 tty/1 1011 erwin 11:45:48 $ perror 28
 OS error code 28: No space left on device

Re: [Bacula-users] Bacula error!

2006-07-19 Thread Zakai Kinan
this is the relevant config in the bacula-sd.conf:

Device {
  Name = JTStorage
  Media Type = FT
  Archive Device = /media/BIG/jt
  LabelMedia = yes; # lets Bacula
label unlabeled media
  Random Access = Yes;
  AutomaticMount = yes; # when device
opened, read it
  RemovableMedia = no;
  AlwaysOpen = no;
}

That is the frustrating part about the error because
the correct configuration is in the bacula-sd.conf
file.

TIA,

ZK

 Not to be rude, but have you tried actually reading
 the error message?
 :) It seems to me to be extremely clear what
 happened. There was no
 prior available full job, the job was upgraded to a
 full job on
 JTStorage, and that device doesn't exist.

 My assumption is that you expect that it should, but
 you don't show any
 config from your SD -- maybe you've made an error.
 In any case, the
 error message says absolutely everything you'd need
 to know.

It is fixed. There was a one letter case issue in the
media type. I sanitized the info before I post it so
the info below was not the error.

Mine works fine.

 it works OK, but I

I can do that. Let me know what is involved in
updating the website.

 How much work is involved? For every release, you
 update the details
 on the Freshmeat website. I would expect this to
 take about 30
 minutes, max, probably much less.

 Any volunteers?

Re: [Bacula-users] Bacula 1.38.9 installation!

2006-05-27 Thread Zakai Kinan
That is correct. Mysql did not update the loader
cache; therefore, I had to symbolic link
libmysql.so.15 to /usr/lib.  I expected bacula to
remember where libmysql.so was since the path was
passet to it during installation.

Thanks for the help,

  However, that does nothing to address the fact
 that this DID work
  before, right?

 That issue might addressed by the possibility that
 you upgraded MySQL at
 some point in past history, and either you have two
 MySQLs installed or
 partially installed on your system in different
 directories, or the MySQL
 install wasn't smart enough to update your loader
 cache.

Re: [Bacula-users] best way to backup a mysql database?

I was using this script before implementing bacula -

 wondering what the best
  method would be. Schedule a mysqldump some minutes

 dump the mysql databases?

  Thanks in advance, I’ll summarize.

  Cheers,

  **Genís Pujol**

 Hi Genis,

 I have a small script which runs on the host and is
 in the run-before
 configuration item for that host.

 eg :
 Job {
 Name = Porkchop
 Type = Backup
 Client = porkchop-fd
 FileSet = Full porkchop
 Schedule = Daily
 Storage = DLT-HP
 Messages = Standard
 Level = Incremental
 Pool = DLT-Incr
 ClientRunBeforeJob=/usr/local/sbin/backup_db.sh
 Write Bootstrap = /usr/local/backup/porkchop.bsr
 Priority = 10
 SpoolData = yes
 }

 The backup script is a shell script which does a
 mysqldump of each
 database into a directory that is then backed up
 after completion. I
 exclude the mysql data directory.

Re: [Bacula-users] Error in starting bacula-fd on client!

2006-05-01 Thread Zakai Kinan
I attempted to start bacula using ./bacula start and
this command gave me the error below. I installed the
client only on a redhat 9 box and it works just fine.
The config.log has a couple of errors as well. I
removed the comments; thus, the total size of the file
is less than 42 lines.

what does this error mean exactly?

error 28 from storage engine

The better question is how can I fix it in order to be
able to restore some files?

 MySQL error 28 translates to no space left on
 device.  Most likely, either the
 partition holding your msyql database is full, or
 the partition where mysql is
 creating temporary tables is full.

 Nope - this is not a bacula problem at all. The
 problem is that your MySQL
 server ran out of disk space, either for it's
 primary table storage or
 temporary table storage.

this folder is owned by root. Now the folder that sd

writes the log while sd writes the restore. That is my
mistake.

2006-03-24 Thread Zakai Kinan

Thanks,

 Please don't be offended, but did You check the
 permissons on
 /var/bacula? it must be writeable and executable for

 I think I had similar problems on one debian host
 that run the
 storage daemon as user bacula-sd.

[Bacula-users] Lacie Big Disk Debian compatibility!

2006-03-20 Thread Zakai Kinan
My name is Zakai and I have been on this list for a
month. I just bought a Lacie 500GB usb external
hardrive and it worked for a day. It has stopped
working and I am using Debian 3.1. Does anyone use
this type of hardrive for backup? How is it working
for you? Is updating the kernel a good idea for usb
usage? I am using kernel 2.6.8-2-386 or Debian stock
kernel.

TIA,

ZK
