Re: [Bacula-users] Can not update slots

2012-01-02 Thread ninyo
Placing your reply AFTER the question enables reading of the thread
without scrolling up and down and up and down…

Thanks Dan, i will keep that in mind. Sorry for the inconvenience. :)

Given that your tapes do not have barcodes, this output is expected.
 There is no way for
Bacula to know the labels without barcodes.

That said, I do recall some mechanism for manually creating a file which
contains the labels…

do not recall where I saw that reference..

This is my updateslots.sh script:

*echo 'update slots=1-24 storage=cinta scan' | /sbin/bconsole -c
/etc/bacula/bconsole.conf*

This script works without problems in previous versión.

Anyway, for reasons unknown (i suspect machine reboot) now it works.
Updteslots job is placed to work on friday and when i see it was working
and updating the slots i cant belive it. Im repeating the tests now,
launching again the script and trying to understand why is working now.

Im totally confused

Yes. It works correctly on the old server with 5.0.2 version.

It is recommended that you use bar code labels on your autochanger if
you have a changer with a barcode reader. I have seen reports of users
working without barcodes in the past however I can not help with that.
I have no experience with that type of setup.

I am using a tape library with FreeBSD and Bacula 5.0.3

Getting the library working can be tricky with respect to permissions.

If I recall correctly, if you do not have a barcode reader, you must
 supply the
list of volume names in a file, which is then used instead of the barcode
 reader.

The details do not come to mind immediately.

Has this ever worked for you before?

I'll wait your answers before proceeding.

Is this because there is no barcode reader or because you don't want to

That is unusual. I do not have an explanation for that. Can you post
 your bacula-sd.conf

Also, I have to go for now. I will try to help in 12 hours or so if I
 am not too tired.

BTW, your english is much better than my spanish although I understood
 most of the spanish output..

That is unusual. I do not have an explanation for that. Can you post
 your bacula-sd.conf

Also, I have to go for now. I will try to help in 12 hours or so if I
 am not too tired.

BTW, your english is much better than my spanish although I understood
 most of the spanish output..

[Bacula-users] Can not update slots

2011-12-27 Thread ninyo
Hello

recently migrated from bacula 5.0.3 (from apt) to 5.2.3 (from sources) on
different hosts. Export the database, import and upgrade from script. All
goes fine, but when i try to update slots from console, i get this for all
the slots:

* 3305 Auto-cambiador carga ranura 23, unidad 0, estado es OK.*
* 3001 Volumen=Incremental-03 Ranura=23*
* Ninguno VolName para Ranura=23 InChanger establecido en cero. *
*
*
in english :p
*
*
*No VolName for Slot=23 InChanger set to zero *

slot in list volumes are not upgraded. Bacula can read the label from the
tape, but the flag slot is not updated.

I can read the label from btape:

*/etc/bacula# btape -c bacula-sd.conf /dev/nst0*

[Bacula-users] multiple jobs simultaneous pools

2011-07-18 Thread ninyo
HI

im trying to configure multiple jobs for different pools on a two drives
tape library. I can read on
thishttp://old.nabble.com/Bacula-Maximum-Concurrent-Jobs-td30299016.html#a30299182
 thread:

*Also you have to understand that only 1 pool can be loaded at a time
for a storage device so if you want multiple jobs to run to multiple
pools concurrently you need multiple storage devices. *

I have one storage device configured for my tape library on bacula-sd, but i
have two drives on the library. I assume that this is possible. Am i wrong?

It is possible to configure the drives separately in bacula-sd to have two
storage devices and then i can run multiple jobs on multiple pools?

Thx Rgds.

Hi John

i think that all the *Maximum Concurrent Jobs *are defined correctly.

More info. If i have one running job, and i launch another job to different
pool:

in other words, when run the second job, the first job volume shows this
message and bacula mark the volume to full, try to mount another available
volume, and when bacula try to write to the volume, the message appear
again.
