Hi, To me it looks like the petrol leakage story is true (most probably from the filter). However the fire story can not be true or else the writer would have been in hospital for sure. It appears to be a ploy to get immediate action from BAL (and yes, in my experience, this is not a company that would give immediate attention to issues with its products unless one raves and rants or moves on to do the kind of street theatre that one can see having been done here). I know Durgesh at Bagga Link. Next time I go there for getting my bike serviced (within the next week or so), I will ask him about the case and post the info in case he is willing to share stuff about the incident. Hi, this post bugs/ worries me and all but it makes less and lesser sense to me what oil ? how did the spark plug cause a fire ? if so which one ? and what was it doing open to the outside which did not spread ? no account of who/ how the fire was put out injectors are implicated and changed AFAIK they are well below the tank and squirt into the combustion chamber what do they have to do with leaky fuel from below the tank ? @ deepak : could you please confirm that this is at worst some April 1 type joke or just plain attention. And more importantly could you please post a follow up. betcha a crate of thumsup or sthg better ;p that will prolly be on the lines of i tried to fiddle with / fix my bike and of course could not so ... I have been wrong before and maybe I am wrong again, but I don't buy this story, oh let me rephrase that I don't buy the account of this probably true incident as posted in the first mail on this thread let save everyone on this list some time and write on the black board in large alphabets. 1. Re: [bajajpulsar] Here comes another issue...
No Sir, Not a joke. I just reproduced the post as it was on xbhp. Reading his instance and the logical conclusions made by other members, I did find his case surprising. Even I was taken aback as to how an injector can spray fuel over the engine and on his legs. But at the same time, I wondered how and why would someone purposely twist the facts, hence posted it. This chap was supposed to come out with the aftermath pics- till the last time I checked he hadn't. Re: [bajajpulsar] Here comes another issue...
Source: Ashu, New Delhi. http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/showthread.php?t=14252 Hi Everyone, hope everyones' doing fine. This one will be a new post from my side after a long time and a very very important one for sure. I bought a Pulsar 220 DTSFI some time back. It was running ok. it has done 1700 kms till date. 2 days ago i noticed some oil dripping from the left hand side underneath the tank. Also the meter sensor had failed causing the meter not to show speed units. I took it to the bagga link showroom in Karol bagh and told them about the problems. The Showroom incharge, Mr. Pankaj Kappor assured me it will be fixed in 1 hour. i returned after 1 hour from the karol bagh market and they said it's taken care off. I checked the meter and it was working fine and there was no oil dripping as well. Today in the evening at around 5 i was going from South ex-1 to Gole market. I was passing from Tuglaka road when i felt my left leg feeling cold, i ignored it. Then it got too much and i looked down and what i saw scared me to death. There was a stream of petrol coming from underneath the tank and to my horror it caught a spark from the spark plug and the Bike was on fire. I stopped the Bike and switched the engine off. todd on the side of the road to cath my breath. then i called up Mr. Ramachandran Head Pro-Biking and told him what has happened. he got chocked and asked if i was ok, i said i am okay but my jeans and shoes are completely wet with Petrol and i could have caught fire with the bike. He gave me the number of Mr. Durgesh, service manager Bagga Link. I called Mr. Durgesh and he promised to send some mechanics at my location. the mechanics arrived in half an hour and examined the bike. They asked me to sign on a handover job sheet and termed the bike's problem as break down. They towed the Bike to Karol bagh while i traveled in an Auto to Bagga Link Karol Bagh. By that time a few of my friends had also arrived at Bagga link as i had called them earlier. They were really worried about me, they were fine once they saw, i was ok. Then i went ahead and met Mr. Durgesh who asked me if i was okay and then he asked me what speed was i doing. I informed him i was doing around 40 kmph, then he asked the mechanic to take care of the problem. The Bike took 2 hours to repair, they replaced the fuel injector unit with new ones. Observations - Bajaj quality sucks till date compared to Hero Honda. I owned a Karizma for more than 3 years and never did i come across any compromise on the part quality. They might be losing out to Bajaj in the sales war but in terms of quality they are still way ahead of them. Atleast HH bikes don't have horrific issues like the front suspension cracking or breaking under use (refer Pulsar 200) or this one on the P 220 , the flagship model, technology laiden bike. P220 has so many minor issues as highlighted by other owners on XBHP. This particular Injector Unit has been sourced by Delphi ans the only thing i can think of is somewhere compromises are being made on the component quality in favor of financial gains that might leave customers injured or might also kill them. Hi, worrisome and while the incident is likely true these are likely problems in narration 2 days ago i noticed some oil dripping from the left hand side underneath the tank. Also the meter sensor had failed causing the meter which meter ? what oil ? I am guessing that fuel level sensor needed to be attended and/ or fuel was leaking from under the tank. horror it caught a spark from the spark plug and the Bike was on fire. I can't buy this. Head Pro-Biking and told him what has happened. he got chocked and asked if i was ok, i said i am okay but my jeans and shoes are completely wet with Petrol and i could have caught fire with the bike. He gave me the number of Mr. Durgesh, service manager Bagga esp in the light of this. having said all this I will ofc be quite watchful and wary and so on. I would be *very* interested in reading a proper/ technical discussion on this. My humble nontechnical guessoffering is it somehow somewhere involves the fuel filter http://www.flickr.com/photos/arpandiv/622938431/ ciao gr [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I guess so, and once it has it is not going to ignore fuel soaked denim etc, and most prolly will flashback to the source of the fuel ciao gr Can fule catch fire if it fall on the hot cylinder head :-? [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
