Re: ftp?

2014-04-04 Thread Bruce Van Allen
I, too, use Fetch, for all the reasons Greg mentioned. I have
used Transmit and Interarchy (all the way back to when it was
named Anarchie), especially when Fetch lay fallow. But I
returned to Fetch when its development was revived several years ago.

For many purposes, though, BBEdit's built-in FTP/SFTP capability
does the job just fine. I recommend getting familiar with that.

However, Fetch features mirroring, and you can save mirror
settings -- allowing you to double-click the Finder icon and
have your site/folder/whatever mirrored.

Also, Fetch stores its settings in your Dropbox account, so
when you move from your desktop machine to your laptop, each of
your bookmarks is there.

With Fetch, double-clicking downloads the file, so you have to select the

Also, Fetch stores it's settings in your Dropbox account, so when you move

I just looked at the websites for Interarchy, Yummy FTP, Transmit, and
Expandrive, and each seems to offer some really nice features, but
mirroring and setting/bookmark access are two big reasons why I haven't
felt compelled to switch from Fetch.

2014-04-04 Thread Ted Burger
Greg,

That makes it easy and I use Transmit the same way.
I have a Transmit window open and a double click on a file opens it in BBEdit,
then a save sends it back to the remote location.

Thanks,
Ted

Re: ftp?

2014-04-04 Thread Greg Raven
I never change anything, so I still use Fetch, which works well with
BBEdit. In Fetch, you can set it so that with a Fetch FTP window open, you
can select a file, click Edit, and it opens in BBEdit.
