The Finder sidebar is the perfect place to put "aliases" - when you are in
the "Save" dialogs make sure you expand to display the entire Finder -
navigate to the location for saving, drag the folder into the "Favorites"
section of the sidebar.

Search works well too...long live the mini-Finder

I didn't know either of these ways to bring up the Go To Folder... dialog.

Thanks!

When I type '/' in the Save As dialog in BBEdit, the Go to Folder sheet pops
up, same as in other Mac apps. Not sure what the problem is.

You can do this via the Save dialog's standard (OS-wide) path
navigation support: just invoke "Save As..." and type
Command-Shift-G to bring up the "Go to folder" sheet, then paste
the desired path and press Return twice (once to navigate the
path, and the second time to perform the save).

Great. Also, 12.0.1 contains a workaround.

<#> in source code redefines the tab key (!)

2017-10-26 Thread Joe Lapp
I've just encountered the weirdest behavior in BBedit 12.0.1.

Create the following Javascript file:

```
/*
command: DOIT someTerm<#>|anotherTerm<#>
*/
function doIt() {
let x = 1;
}
```

Put the cursor anywhere in the file, and hit the tab key. You will never
get a tab. Instead the editor highlights: "<#>|anotherTerm<#>". If there
are multiple such <#>s in the file, the tab key cycles the highlight among
pairs of <#>s.

I guess I have to change my comment to something BBedit can handle.

For many years (20?, 30?) I have been using Default Folder which simplifies all
the navegation, I couldn't work without it (I want to cry when I use MS Windows
or Linux).

One simple alternative is to put aliases to folders you use in some other
folder which is easy to navigate to (e.g., "Desktop", "Documents" or "Home").

Cheers,

Really? that i very odd, as that is the default in Macos (neé OS X). Since
autosave, "Save as" means "Save A COPY as"
