Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Help us achieve an official 7.8.0 community release
I mentioned this in a different 7.8 thread, but no one else seemed to have the same problem: My current LMS is a Pi running raspian. When I switched to 7.8 nightlies, I started seeing constant rebuffering when playing AAC streams via tunein. I haven't had time to investigate other than to try switching to the allthingspi copy of faad, which solved the problem. I don't know what's different about their faad, but it is much smaller. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] LMS 7.8 Nightlies
Anyone else running 7.8 nightlies on a Raspberry Pi with raspbian? I've been happily running an old-ish version of 7.8 using the pre-built armhf perl binaries at http://allthingspi.webspace.virginmedia.com/lms.php. Now that Michael has added armhf support (Thanks Michael!), I finally decided to upgrade to the latest 7.8 and try it out. It works well except for one thing: If I play an AAC internet radio stream, it rebuffers about once every minute or two. However, if I replace the lms provided faad with the one from allthingspi, it works fine. I have no idea what's special about their version of faad. Supposedly Honeycomb 3.1 for the Reveu will be released by the end of September. There's already a leaked beta release of Honeycomb for the Revue bouncing around the net, but it's very unstable. Do I need to wait for some official Honeycomb release for the Revue before I can start testing against LMS? There are a couple DLNA servers (TVersity,TVMobili) that support the Revue, but I like the idea of having one server to support both my SB3 and Revue. I understand that no official announcement of LMS supporting the Revue has been made... but is it taboo to discuss LMS and the Revue in this beta forum? I seem to recall a couple post where LMS was mentioned as a Logitech server for the Revue. Am I wrong? Please let us know what you decide to do and how it works out. In my experience, the production Revue firmware is quite broken as a Media Player (many common formats and containers simply won't play). I've heard that the HC leak has a better media player but broken Netflix. Most of this is probably independent of the server used. If the Revue Media Player ever gets fixed, I'd love to use LMS instead of miniDLNA as my server.
