If I remove the PlayHLS plugin then the playlist is saved but I see a

I don't see that behaviour with material, playlist changes are
automatically saved for me. (I don't use any streaming services).

I cleared the play queue.
Started playing 1 track.
Saved the play queue as "kidstypiketest".
Waited until DSTM kicked in.
Added 2 tracks.
Looked at the m3u file in Notepad++, it contained the three tracks.
Restarted LMS, 3 tracks still there, in material and the m3u file.

H LMS -should- save playlist on changes, and does for me. With
appropriate logging enabled, when adding a track from the queue to a
playlist I see:

Code:

  [22-04-10 19:00:54.3931] Slim::Player::Playlist::modifyPlaylistCallback
(1081) Checking if persistPlaylists is set..
  [22-04-10 19:00:54.3933] Slim::Player::Playlist::modifyPlaylistCallback

  [22-04-10 19:00:54.4106] Slim::Control::Commands::playlistsEditCommand (2274)
Playlist has changed via editing - saving new list of tracks.
  [22-04-10 19:00:54.4151] Slim::Control::Commands::playlistsEditCommand (2281)
Writing out playlist to disk..
  [22-04-10 19:00:54.4155] Slim::Formats::Playlists::M3U::write (251) Writing
out: /home/craig/Downloads/lms/Playlists/Test.m3u

The 'Save' button on the default skin does a rename (with overwrite).
So, I could do that, but it should not be required. Material's 'Rename'
on a playlist checks if the name has changed, and if not does not try a
rename.

Material adding this track to a stored playlist, that a) in the stored

Yeah, sorry, I just haven't had the time to dig into that, but I don't
understand how that gets to the root of the problem, either, because as
I mentioned before, the data that DSTM adds to the *play queue* for
streaming tracks is the *exact same data* that's transferred when I add
those tracks to a *playlist*. Neither include any #EXTINF data. That's
what slartibartfast has discovered as well, and I'd be willing to bet
that's the case for everyone.

The *ONLY* tracks in the play queue and any playlist that *don't include
#EXTINF data* are streamed tracks added to the play queue by DSTM. Every
other track, whether it's a DSTM-added *local* track or a manually added
*local or streamed* track do not exhibit this problem at all.

As stated earlier, it is Material that is invoking JSONRPC to add a
track to a -stored- playlist via:

Code:

  ["playlists", "edit", "playlist_id:", "cmd:add", "url:"]

Note no metadata is sent, simply the track's URL. I've looked at the LMS
code (playlistsEditCommand in Slim/Control/Commands.pm) and can see that
I could also pass 'title' - but, in my experience, this does not seem to
be required. However, I fail to see why there would be a difference
between a track added via DSTM or manually, both -should- have the same
URL. Perhaps as its added manually LMS cache's the meta-data so knows
what to write to the M3U file?

I could update my call to pass "title:" - but not sure what should
be in the title. Just title? Artist? Album? If so what format? "Title -
Artist, Album" ???

-

The above is assuming you mean "stored playlist" by "playlist" and not
the current play -queue-. (This is the reason I call the play queue
"play queue" and not "play list" - to make the difference obvious).

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] New in 7.9: "Don't Stop The Music"

(IMHO, I'm guessing that probably wouldn't happen at all if DSTM
included the #EXTINF data for streamed tracks, because that's the one
and only difference between those tracks and all the other tracks that
have always worked properly.)

#EXTINF is a playlist file format specific thing. DSTM certainly does
not have to deal with this. All it does (no matter where a track is
coming from), is add a URL. This can be something like
file://home/music/some/track.mp3, or qobuz://123456.flac. It's just a URL.

The command adding that URL to a playlist then is responsible of
grabbing the track information it wants to show. That's why I keep
asking for the command used in this action.

Well, I finally decided to disable the Qobuz plugin, thinking I'd try to
make my system look as much like yours as possible. DSTM then added
tracks from Tidal, which I was able to add to a playlist without
problem. I re-enabled the Qobuz plugin, and now it's working! I'm now
able to add DSTM-streamed songs that appear like they should. Even
tracks that were previously appearing as "unknown" in the list now show
track title and artist, although I often need to open the playlist
twice, otherwise DTSM-added streamed tracks still show as "unknown."
(IMHO, I'm guessing that probably wouldn't happen at all if DSTM
included the #EXTINF data for streamed tracks, because that's the one
and only difference between those tracks and all the other tracks that
have always worked properly.)

So, I guess it took the old "turn it off and on again" trick to get it
working...

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to help me out, slaritbartfast and
cpd73. I greatly appreciate it!

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] New in 7.9: "Don't Stop The Music"

I don't think that's the problem, because when I use other options for
DSTM (*not* LastMix/Last.fm), the same null/unknown issue still happens
with streamed tracks that have been integrated into my music library
from Tidal and Qobuz. No matter which option I choose, any streamed
track added to the queue by DSTM results in a null/unknown entry when I
try to save it to a playlist.

Have you figured out what command is being used to add those tracks to
the playlist? Because everything else is nice chatting, but doesn't
really get us closer to the actual problem...

looking at the play queue m3u file, what do you see in the playlist m3u
file that you added the track to?

I don't think that's the problem, because when I use other options for
DSTM (*not* LastMix/Last.fm), the same null/unknown issue still happens
with streamed tracks that have been integrated into my music library
from Tidal and Qobuz. No matter which option I choose, any streamed
track added to the queue by DSTM results in a null/unknown entry when I
try to save it to a playlist.

Just took a look at my play queue's m3u file.

Local track added manually:

Code:

#EXTURL:file:///C:/Users/Public/Music/Fine%20Young%20Cannibals/Fine%20Young%20Cannibals/Move%20To%20Work%20-%20Fine%20Young%20Cannibals%20-%20Fine%20Young%20Cannibals.m4a
  #EXTINF:207,Move To Work
  C:\Users\Public\Music\Fine Young Cannibals\Fine Young Cannibals\Move To Work
- Fine Young Cannibals - Fine Young Cannibals.m4a

Streamed track added manually:

Code:

#EXTURL:qobuz://13112529.flac
#EXTINF:-1,To Our Knees by Low from The Invisible Way (Édition StudioMasters)
  qobuz://13112529.flac

Local track added by DSTM:

Code:

#EXTURL:file:///C:/Users/Public/Music/Tori%20Amos/From%20The%20Choirgirl%20Hotel/She%27s%20Your%20Cocaine%20-%20Tori%20Amos%20-%20From%20The%20Choirgirl%20Hotel.m4a
  #EXTINF:222,She's Your Cocaine
  C:\Users\Public\Music\Tori Amos\From The Choirgirl Hotel\She's Your Cocaine -
Tori Amos - From The Choirgirl Hotel.m4a

Several streamed tracks added by DSTM:

Code:

#EXTURL:qobuz://44536217.flac
  qobuz://44536217.flac
  #EXTURL:qobuz://44536211.flac
  qobuz://44536211.flac
  #EXTURL:qobuz://3493217.flac
  qobuz://3493217.flac

Streamed tracks queued via Don't Stop The Music are missing #EXTINF
data.

Here's mine. A Qobuz track added to the queue by DSTM from a random mix
that only uses online files, then saved to an existing playlist:

#EXTURL:qobuz://18086827.flac
qobuz://18086827.flac

Could the issue be that LastMix/Last.fm uses some other format for the
url of online tracks?

My Tidal track which displays correctly shows as
#EXTURL: wimp://11945009.flac
wimp://11945009
I did notice that tracks added to playlist do not appear in the m3u file
unless you manually save the playlist.

Makes sense. All I know is that, when I select Spotify Recommendations,

Regardless of whether the song is integrated into my music library or
not, it results in a null/unknown entry when I try to add it to a

does it.

Manually added songs, whether they're local, streamed, integrated into

I've been using the LastMix/Last.fm option for Don't Stop The Music,
because it seems to be the only option that streams music from outside
of my music library, allowing me the possibility of discovering new
music.

I just now tried some other options (MusicIP Mix, Spotify
Recommendations). Each one added songs from my music library (most
locally stored, some merged from Tidal or Qobuz). The local songs
automatically added by DSTM can be added to a playlist, no problem, but
any streamed tracks automatically added by DSTM (from Tidal or Qobuz)
result in the same null/unknown entry to the playlist.

Again, I'm only experiencing this problem when streamed songs are added
by DSTM plugin. Whenever I add songs (local or streamed) to my queue
manually, there is no problem at all, regardless of how I add the song

*local or streamed* tracks to my queue, then add to playlist either by

I'd imagine the issue is with Material, but as I don't use streaming
services its hard to check. "Add to playlist" simply does:

Code:

  ["playlists", "edit", "playlist_id:", "cmd:add", "url:"]

I've tested by adding a YouTube track to the queue, click on the track's
three-dotted menu button in the queue and "Add to playlist" - and this
seems to work for me. Playlist has URL and "EXT" entries. e.g.

Code:

  #EXTM3U
  #EXTURL:youtube://www.youtube.com/v/FhBnW7bZHEE

Weird thing is, when I tap on the "null" entries in my playlist, they
actually queue up the correct songs.

I think you should try to figure out what is adding those track. Disable
the Playlist Manager plugin and see whether you still have those menus.
Or ask in a Material thread, whether it's that plugin adding the

I disabled Playlist Manager, then in Squeezelite, tried to use "Add to
playlist" on a streamed track added by DSTM (from Qobuz). Same thing.
Shows up as "unknown" in the playlist. Local and streamed tracks that
I've added manually to my queue work fine; the only tracks that exhibit

Hmm. Squeezer on my Android tablet shows the "Add to..." option right at
the top of the popup menu when I tap on the three dots regardless of
whether the song is local or streamed. Maybe that's the problem? "Add
to..." only works with local songs? And Squeezer shouldn't be giving me
that option for streamed songs?

Weird thing is, when I tap on the "null" entries in my playlist, they
actually queue up the correct songs.

Just took a look at my plugin settings. Yes, I do have Playlist Manager
enabled and I do use Material Skin. When I manually add music to my
queue, the "Add to..." feature works as expected (songs appear normally
after adding to playlist), but when I try to use it with songs that
Don't Stop The Music has added, a message pops up saying it's adding
"null" to my playlist. (These are songs that have are streamed via
either Qobuz or Tidal, not in my local music library.) When I look at
the playlist itself, the "null" entries are listed as "unknown" in
Squeezelite. On my Android devices, Squeezer shows a hyphen instead of
the word "unknown."

I mainly interact with LMS through the Squeezer app on my Android
tablet. I just now noticed that Squeezelite on my PC shows an "Add to
playlist" option in the popup menu, and I have to select "More" to
access the "Add to..." option. In Squeezer (on the tablet), the menu
doesn't even show "Add to playlist," it only gives me the "Add to..."
option, which explains why I've been using "Add to..." and not "Add to
playlist."

Oh, well. Too many different things interacting with each other to
easily troubleshoot...

I had to do a bit of research to get Don't Stop The Music to function
properly. Now that I have, it seems like a nice substitute for Roon
Radio, especially using the LastMix/Last.fm option. However, I've found
that when DSTM adds songs to my queue and I try to add one of those
songs to a playlist, a message pops up saying "Adding null to playlist."

I'm in the process of switching over from Roon to LMS. It took me a
while to get up to speed with LMS, but I'm very impressed with it so
far. Honestly, with all of its features, I don't think I'll miss Roon
much.

When I go to the playlist I've added the song to, only a hyphen appears
for that entry, no text at all. If I select the null entry, it actually
plays the correct song. Obviously, it would be ideal if the song title
and artist appeared properly.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions to solve this problem.

That's most likely a follow up issue to the main issue: as the lookup
failed the plugin is receiving unexpected data - which it doesn't handle
correctly.

Pi clearly is cool, it is just that I have already a QNAP NAS and so far

I have an Intel based Synology DS 1517+ with 16GB of RAM. Yet I decided

Hi!

I love "Don't stop the Music"! Unfortunately, it stopped working
sometime in the last days (LastMix local only).

I am running Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.4 - 1603273368 and
haven't changed anything recently. Just updated the MaterialSkin plugin.
Could this be the cause?

The "Logitech Media Server Log File" (via WebGui>Settings>Information)
don't show anything (see below). Are there other logs I can have a look
at?

Not sure this handles all cases, but Dynamic Playlist sets a client
property when is starts a playlist:
https://github.com/erland/lms-dynamicplaylist/blob/6a0c37c4d80e2ebeed307fc3620b757490186b76/src/Plugin.pm#L649

And removes the same property when it stops:
https://github.com/erland/lms-dynamicplaylist/blob/6a0c37c4d80e2ebeed307fc3620b757490186b76/src/Plugin.pm#L690

$prefs is initiated here:
https://github.com/erland/lms-dynamicplaylist/blob/6a0c37c4d80e2ebeed307fc3620b757490186b76/src/Plugin.pm#L51

I think looking for the playlist property should work in most cases. I’m
not sure the property is removed if someone disconnect the power cable
but except for that I suspect it’s a fairly reliable way to detect if a
dynamic playlist is running. Please keep in mind that I wrote this code
a long time ago and might have interpreted it incorrect when looking at
it now, so someone should verify that it works if you implement this.

So I'm not @erland who would be the one qualified to answer those
questions but my guess, maybe line 416/7:

Code:

if(defined($mixInfo{$masterClient}->{'type'})) {
my $playlist =
getPlayList($client,$mixInfo{$masterClient}->{'type'});

If type returns "disabled" then DPL is not active?

For me DPL behaves in many regards much like RandomPlay, except for
DSTM: when I start a RandomPlay mix and skip to the penultimate track,
DSTM doesn't take over. When I start a DPL mix and skip to the
penultimate track DSTM takes over and adds tracks.
It probably hasn't come up before because DSTM kicks in at the
penultimate track while (I think) the default DPL settings add tracks
earlier. So unless you skip very fast or change the default DPL settings
you probably won't notice this.

Michael,

do you think you could add Erland's *DynamicPlaylist* plugin to the
'list of mix plugins that DSTM watches out for'

Right now I think DSTM starts to load new tracks when the -penultimate-
playlist track has started. The time that different mixers require to
come up with the next batch of DSTM tracks varies, depending on
hardware, what the mixer plugin does and such.
Sometimes I wish I could set DSTM to load tracks *earlier* (like "5
tracks before the last one") to allow for slower response times or quick
serial-skipping. An option for that would be great imho. Thank you.

If you're not actively limiting to the seed track genre MusicIP is
genre-agnostic, it will return anything that sounds similar according to
the acoustic analysis. MusicIP by default doesn't use any tag info for
generating its mixes, only its own database (default.m3lib file)

The mix settings make no difference. After a bit of experimenting, it
seems to be an issue with MusiIP and having just a single artist in a
genre.

Changing the artist names on a few of my Johnny Cash albums to something
else resolves the issue and MusicIP returns sensible mixes. I might post
this in the MusicIP thread, or I might just buy a few different
"Country" CDs from different artists to mix it up a bit.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] New in 7.9: "Don't Stop The Music"

2020-12-03 Thread staresy

Hi,
I use DSTM with the MusicIP option. The way I tend to listen is to
"seed" DSTM/MusicIP with a single track (eg. a single Miles Davis track
sets up a Jazz playlist, a Bob Marley track sets up a Reggae playlist
etc..). This works well in almost all scenarios except one...

I have about 20 Johnny Cash albums all under the genre "Country". I have
no other "Country" artists. The problem I encounter is seeding
DSTM/MusicIP with a Johnny Cash track plays a single Johnny Cash track
but then goes onto random song mix (ie. any genre/artist). I think DTSM
and MusicIP are doing what they should given the settings (and the
problem is there is only one artist in the selected genre - therefore
MusicIP doesn't return a Mix and DSTM defaults to Songmix).

In the above scenario, I would prefer DTSM to default to Songmix
(limited to current genre). This would then effectively shuffle the seed
artist (without having to change configs).

Is that possible, or are there any suggestions as to how better
configure to cope with this scenario?

Hope that makes sense, thanks in advance.
