SC 7.3.4 starts up correctly, but I cannot get webacces. When I push the
button my browser opens up, but the site doesn't open. What could be
wrong, and what can I do?

I am running into the same problem, the server is up but no web access.
The error message that I see when I try to access Squeeze in a web
browser is as follows.

7.4 needs more work before it's fully compatible. I hope to get that
 done early this weekend.

Thank you Andy. I installed the August 29th version 7.3.4-28351 for
Macintosh. The good news: The SqueezeCenter pane app, when launched,
shows Stop Server meaning it is running. The button for Web Access
is now active, in black as opposed to being grayed out. The unit
connected to the receiver is now showing White as opposed to Blue and I
just confirmed that, with the remote, everything is working fine to play
music.

The bad news: As I noticed what MacMeijers just said, I too have the
same problem. Usually clicking on Web Access brings up two web pages.
I currently tries to load Local:9000 and it can't find our load in the
server (my hard drive I assume) nor does the URL for Settings and
updating or changing or replacing and rescanning come up.

Any suggestions Andy or anyone else?

Getting there

Thanks!

One more thing I should tell you Andy: When I first launched the pane,
without my having touched anything, my main music hard drive was
accessed for a few minutes then a separate hard drive with my iTunes
items also was accessed for a while. These are my two Logitech music
source choices so this seemed like it was polling both drives and/or
updating something. But, subsequently, pressing Web Access lead to the
Local:9000 page coming up in Safari but then it would not find the
server, which seems odd.

Do you think some of the new Security changes in Snow Leopard may be an
issue? Here's what MacWorld said about the changes:

Security The Security pane has undergone some big changes from Leopard
to Snow Leopard. For starters, if you opt to require a password when
waking the computer from sleep or the screen saver, you can now specify
a time-delay (5 seconds; 1, 5, or 15 minutes; or 1 or 4 hours) before
that password is necessary.

You can also disable Snow Leopard’s new Location Services (see “Snow
Leopard’s little changes”) in the Security pane, as well as reset
warnings and permissions for applications.

Finally, the firewall settings have been revamped considerably. The
main firewall tab provides a simple On/Off setting; to configure the
firewall, you click the Advanced button. Your options now include
blocking all incoming connections, automatically allowing connections to
signed software (those with a valid certificate authority), enabling
stealth mode, and configuring individual firewall rules. Leopard’s
option to enable and view firewall logs is gone.

Thanks,

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] SqueezeCenter 7.4 Snow Leopard (Mac OS 10.6)

2009-08-28 Thread SNazz123

Hello all. I just installed Snow Leopard (10.6) today at 1:45PM Eastern
Daylight Time. I went right to SqueezeCenter under System Preference.
Double clicking the icon brings up the following alert: To use the
SqueezeCenter preference pane, System Preferences must quit and
reopen. I clicked on OK and I get the familiar SqueezeCenter pane. In
the header area it says SqueezeCenter (32-bit). Start Server is shown
in black. I have Automatically start set to When System Boot. The Web
Access, button, alas is greyed out. Clicking on Start Server results
Start Server becoming grey and Web Access remaining grey.

I'm rather disappointed the Logitech did not have SqueezeCenter ready
to go. I don't really care about 32-bit vs. 64-bit for the moment but
would just like to have a 32-bit version working at the moment. I'm not
really sure what v.7.3.4 nightly is. (An overnight beta?) My version is
7.3.3. Should I look for the v.7.3.4 here and install it? Is it stable?
Or should I get 7.4, indeed? (I'm surprised I didn't get a notification
of this upgrade. Is there a way to check for updates? Through the
remote? Through SqueezeCenter?

Is there an ETA on v.7.4?

Thanks for any advise on this. I appreciate it!

Thanks Andy however I installed 7.3.4 and it is not working.

I have Automatically start: set to When System Boots. Web Access
is grayed out. I clicked on the Start Server button now it is grayed
out. (I don't usually have to do anything but launch the SqueezeCenter
icon from the System Accessories.) My unit is in Blue mode, not white.

Is there something else I need to be doing to get things working. (I
did reboot the computer but that didn't help either.)

I'm stumped.

Thanks,

7.4 seems to run although the system preferences pane fires off many a
spinning beachball - also all of my artist names have disappeared in the
web interface but show up on the squeezebox LCD when I play a song. In
other words... buggy, but I expected as much being forced to run 7.4

7.3.4 nightly and 7.4 should both run on Snow Leopard. Currently they
will run in 32-bit mode, but I'm working on providing support for 64-
bit mode.
