[Blind-Computing] Changeing the windows startup sound in windows Vista premium?
Listers, Shouldn't I be able to change the windows startup sound in vista?Well, it appears that I can't. When I went to sounds and to the treeview to select windows start, there isn't any choice for windows start. There is a choice for windows exit, but not for windows start. Is this the way it is suppose to be in Vista premium? I sure hope not!? I really would like to change the startup sound. Re: [Blind-Computing] Changeing the windows startup sound in windowsVista premium?
What you can do is to uncheck play windows startup sound and then change the windows logon sound to what you want. This will give you the same affect. [Blind-Computing] Upgrading Office XP to Office 2003
Hello All, I am in the process of upgrading office XP to office 2003. I have never done this type of upgrade before and I need some advice. 1. I use quite a number of macros with MS Word and Excel. Do anyone know where these macros are stored and would they be removed with the upgrade of Office 2003? 2. Do I need to save these macros before I do the upgrade? 3. How do you restore these macros and can they be used in office 2003? I do not wish to recreate them again since some of them are complicated to redo. 4. Lastly, I know that I insert the CD in the drive to start the upgrade. Are there any cautions or anything that I should be aware of while I am installing office 2003? I am assuming that office 2003 will overwrite office XP. Is this correct? I sure appreciate any help and comments before I do the upgrade. Many thanks in advance. [Blind-Computing] having a problem with yahoo email
Hello everyone, I have a sighted friend who has a free yahoo email account. when she opens up an email she can't see the body of the message. She can see everything else, but the body of the email message. She signed into a friends yahoo account from her computer, and still can't see the body of the message. I signed into her yahoo account from my computer for her, and I could read the body of the message. Does anyone know what she can try, so that she can see the body of the email messages? Also she checked her AOL email, and she could read the email messages in there. She has a dial up connection if that helps you out. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Re: [Blind-Computing] Problem with Windows Update
Victor, thanks for the help, however I have 2 issues. One, I live in the UK so don't fancy making long distance calls, so could I send the issue via e-mail? Two, I have an OEM version of Windows XP. Now I was told that if I tell them that they may suspect I have an illegal copy, is this right? If so, then I don't see the point in filing the issue personally for the above reason. Thanks again, and I look forward to hearing from you. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any fixes on the Microsoft web site for you, but that's not to say that the fix doesn't exist. What I suggest is that you call Microsoft tech support, and get someone on the telephone that can help you. The good news is that updates support is always free, so there's no need to pay for a tech support ticket. It even says that on the web site. If you need the number, let me know, as I have it stashed away on a previous call I made. [Blind-Computing] MS Reader eBooks - accessible software/workarounds?
Hi all Basically there are some eBooks that I want that I seem to only be able to get in the MS Reader format, but unfortunately, that piece of software seems completely inaccessible so far. Was just wondering if there was some way to work around this issue by either making my Jaws 8 actually work with it, or alternatively, some way to either convert the actual documents into another format, or some other software that I can actually use to read these things?
