[Blind-Computing] adding a "bookshelf" feature?

2012-11-28 Thread Cliff Smales
I've been building a library of old time radio shows, and am using blank
reading cartridges to store them.

I'd like to put a "bookshelf" feature on each cartridge, which
would serve as a table of contents. How do I go about this?

I know that this question has been raised, before, but would like to have my
memory refreshed.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Tables on Webpages

Hello,

I write to seek your assistance on this issue I am trying to resolve. On
many webpages I come across tables that are not structured as tables, yet
they appear and are identified by JAWS as tables. I can navigate them using
the navigation keys for tables, but I can't get JAWS to read the column
headings. I tried to get into table layer mode, JAWS KEY + SPACEBAR + T, but
this too does not help in announcing the column headings/ titles.

Any suggestions on how I can be helped in this situation will be highly
appreciated.

Hi Trish,
Try plugging in a USB speaker, or headset.
Windows and Jaws will take the last audio device installed as the default.
If you get speech, then you can go back to where you made the change, and
undo it.

Need to know how to do this please?

The laptop uses Real TEck and by making a poor choice of using the Digital

back please?

Thanks,

In ideal conditions, I would agree with you, when I was sighted, I used only
Firefox, now can't live without Internet Explorer. But when it comes to a
captcha on any damn site, I don't want to torture my ears with the audio,
Internet Explorer has nothing to help me overcome this challenge. In
Firefox, this add on webvism, has addressed my challenge and exceeded my
expectations in performance.

Do you have firefox? If yes, instal the add on for it called webvism, it is
a great tool for the blind to help solve captcha's on websites. It takes 3
to 5 seconds to give you the result.

The site to them is: http://www.webvisum.com/

Is there anyone who can understand the Google audio CAPTCHA? Honestly, we
spent forever trying to hear it one afternoon, never got it write and no one
seemed to be answering the phone the one time we tried. I don't play phone
tag well.
Partial hearing loss in the ear most of you use on the phone, can't seem to
hold it on the opposite shoulder while I am typing so calling is my absolute
last resort and usually I just forget what it was I may have been trying to
do rather than call. I hate CAPTCHA! Google's in my opinion is one of the
worst I have heard and my husband said he can't read it either.

I would not use Google at all any longer, if I were not required to do so at
work. They play at accessibility but don't take it seriously, just look at
all the clutter on the home page.

Here you go with some quick instructions on creating a gmail account

NOTE: the same username and password can be used on all your google
accounts, i.e. youtube, google maps, google documents etc.

1. Go to www.gmail.com
2. Click enter on the link: Create an account 3. On the next page fill out
the form with appropriate details requested Edit boxes by typing the fields,
Check boxes by space barring on them, list boxes and combo boxes, you know
how they need to be done 4. There will be a challentge in filling the
username field, if the username already exists it will tell you that it
does, and give you combinations of usernames you may want to choose - use
the up and down arrow keys to toggle the options, enter to select, if they
are not what you wish you need to type in a new one again in the text box,
check again if the username is not already taken.
5. Use the audio captcha, or request a phone verification 6. Check the
checkboxes and hit enter on the next button

Sorry did not get further from this as I did not want to create another
gmail account. If you run into any mess, mail me back at: mujta...@gmail.com

Cheers!

Actually, they are a breeze with Outlook 2007.

In the message list box, move the message you wish to create a rule for.
Right Click on it, i.e. use the application key on it. In the menu options,
hit enter on create a rule. Check the conditions you want for this rule, tab
and check accordingly, enter on the OK button and your rule is created!

I don't want Firefox for one chore only, I have used IE since whenever it
was available, am familiar with its commands.

Cheers!
