I mean to each there own of course, but personally I found several of the games to be enjoyable. I especially liked The Museum, which I find to be a very well done game that stands out among not just jam games, but audio games in general. Stealth mechanics, fast action, Simon style audio puzzles, amusing game lore via the exhibit voiceovers... ETC. It gives the same vibes as some of the pre 2010s audio arcade games (the heyday for those IMO) but in a modern format. We've also got fishing at night, which is atmospheric and satirical, with some actual challenge and replayability to it. Then there's Lunch Gambit, which I just finished playing. It's like many of the standard roguelike card games currently flooding the market, accept for one major thing. It incorporates traditional card games like blackjack and poker, while also letting you choose paths, swap out cards in your hand, ETC. An interesting new take on both genres. And the retro music is extremely catchy as well. I find daymon to be pretty promising as well. It's nothing new exactly, but I like what's there so far, and the addition of space and chaos type monsters in this roguelike format is still a welcome twist. I would encourage you to at least give the ones I've mentioned a deeper look. Even if they aren't in a complete state right now, they could be the start of something much more, and these devs could really use the feedback to motivate them in that direction. -- Defender -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group. [blind-gamers] Want to try some fresh new audiogames while helping out the community? Play and rate these submissions to the third annual games for blind gamers jam on itch.io!
Hi everyone The voting for submissions to the third (games for blind gamers) jam on itch.io is now open and will stay open for the next week. The link is at the bottom of this message. If none of that made sense, don't worry. All you really need to know is that a bunch of independent developers got together for a month and tried there hand at making blind accessible computer games on a gaming website called itch.io. This has happened for the last 3 years now, and even though some of these games are naturally simple or a bit buggy because of the time limitations and inexperience, they can still be a great deal of fun! You may see ideas here that you've never seen in either traditional audio games or blind playable mainstream games. It lets developers from outside our community experiment and learn about making games for us in a low risk environment, and it can help inspire them to create even greater projects in the future. Playing these games and voting on them really helps the cause. It gives these developers feedback on what worked and what didn't for next time. All you need is an account on itch.io and the following link. If you need help, feel free to ask! https://itch.io/jam/games-for-blind-gamers-3/entries -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group. [blind-gamers] Blind Streamers may want to check out this paid study opportunity.
Hi all I don't usually post stuff like this, but I've worked with this lady before and she's very cool... Professional but friendly, chill and honest, respectful and feels strongly that disabled people need to be paid for their time and unique experience rather than being expected to volunteer. She's one of the best I've worked with and I've done allot of studies. Re: [blind-gamers] Rosemary's fate, a binaural, open world horror survival audio game currently under development.
So I didn't realize that these guys had a fanpage on Facebook, and it looks like they posted some other more in depth teasers there. https://www.facebook.com/RosemarysFate/videos They also just today posted another one to reddit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccVFTnbEHRk -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group. [blind-gamers] Rosemary's fate, a binaural, open world horror survival audio game currently under development.
Hey guys, Defender from audiogames.net here. So a teaser was posted to the r/blind subreddit a couple days ago but I wanted to get some clarifications from the devs first before posting this. The game is under development. The first chapter will be released using the studio's funding, but if interest is high enough they will do a crowd funding campaign for the rest. The game will be in English, but they are planning on localized subtitles. They are planning a release on multiple platforms, including PC, Mobile, Smart Speaker and apparently even console. Below I will copy and paste the summary from the website, as well as the teaser clip. Summary: Rosemary’s Fate: Life worth living is a dynamic audio dark adventure game. Dark echoes of the WW2 tragedies reached the present, and you will impersonate three different characters, embroiled in the history. Within the gameplay, you will find yourself in three time periods, connected by a gruesome mystery and a life or death mission. Try to survive the horrors of war, defeat dark incarnations of anguish and evil, and above all – prove that every life is worth living. Rosemary’s Fate is the most dynamic audio game in the world, which means that its whole, rich lore was created only with sound, even though the gameplay dynamic is rather similar to video games. Despite the lack of visuals, your challenges aren’t limited to making storyline decisions, and there’s no narrator to guide you through it. Prepare to be fully immersed in the terrifying interiors of a former monastery steeped in impenetrable darkness, where you will have to learn how to move, navigate, and even fight or dodge your enemies. Thanks to our original approach to auditive scene design and the binaural technology, you will find yourself in the sound space of the game quite intuitively: you’ll be able to recognize objects and NPCs, how far the enemy is, what ground you walk on and in what room you are. The findings will allow you to save the life worth living. The game allows either manual control, available for PC, smartphone, consoles, tablets, and VR, or voice control, compatible i. a. with Alexa Amazon.
