 Great news, everyone!

Earlier today, on Stardate 20050726.1325, or 26 July 2005, 15:25
hours local time, Sonja gave birth to our second son! Just like our
first son, Tom, he will go through life with a very short name: we
 have named him Max.

As after Tom's birth, mother and child are fine, dad is still
recovering GRIN. The powers-that-be decided to keep mother and
child in the hospital for the night, and will probably send them
 home tomorrow.

As a bonus, Sonja's birthday was a day earlier (25 July), so I guess
this is one hell of a birthday present! :-)

Hm. Tom Max -- that sounds like a couple who'll be up to a lot of
 mischief in the future. Neighbourhood beware!   :-}

The other thing that would help is to know your optimal grip

Difficult experiences.

I find it hard to work around babies smaller than my hand with a dozen tubes

But even worse is the hated Hill-Rom equipment. Inside the equipment are
small plastic electrical connectors that have a tendency to melt, come

single one of these connectors in our NICU with buttsplices. It was 4 or 5
days of work in which I made thousands of crimps.

Yes.
A metal tube, sized to the conductor, that is contained inside another tube
made of a 600 - 1000V insulating material.
You use a crimping tool to crimp the metal tube around the bare wire to
hold it solidly in place and to facilitate conduction.
The wires are butted together inside the tube and crimped to make a safe
and effective splice.

You use the same tool and the same method for ring lugs and fork lugs.
Its a common method for electrical connection and if performed properly, is
more or less permanent and extremely reliable.
