It may take you a year to read. Editing is not his middle name but if you enjoyed Crytonimonicom (one of my all time favorite SF books) you will enjoy these as well. Weaved into his fantastical tale his view of the birth of the modern world. There's only one thing more boring than a Democratic National Convention...a Republican National Convention. Heh. I dunno about that. I bet the Libertarian convention is a real ringer... This account of the goings-on at the LP convention makes it seem pretty interesting/eventful. Due to the vagaries of the voting process, a back-room deal, and the fact that the two front-runners apparently hated each other, the nomination ended up going to the 3rd-place guy, who had refused to pay income taxes for years and also refused to get a driver's license, among other interesting tidbits. http://www.libertypost.org/cgi-bin/readart.cgi?ArtNum=58201 Libertarian Politics Dark Horse on the Third Ballot by R. W. Bradford snipped very long quoted article Not sure why but I got this one just now. That's almost two days after it was send. It happens often that things don't arrive in the order in which they were send but this is becoming absurd. :o( Sonja GCU: Peculiar preferences of the server 1) The server wasn't sending things properly for awhile. 2) That post was longer than would go through automatically; it was around 60K, and there's a limit of 40K for a message going through automatically. 3) When I went to check on the posts requiring moderation, there was a problem with the server or something. :( (As soon I checked at a time the server was working properly, Nick had already taken care of it.) 4) And sometimes larger e-mails just take longer to get there -- an e-mail is broken into a bunch of packets of a certain size, and the longer the message, the more packets, and you don't get the whole message until the last packet successfully managed the journey. So sometimes longer messages take a little longer to get from A to B than shorter messages.
