Since the brontosaurus has been renamed the apatosaurus.

Given that apatosaurus means deceptive lizard . . .

Big bowl of chicken soup.

I've had a few of those. And several glasses of orange juice. At least
after I stopped feeling queasy at the very idea of eating anything (and of
course the instructions on the antibiotics read take with food). I
suspect that popping four ibuprofen at a time every few hours until the
pain in every muscle and joint of both arms and my torso finally lessened
enough that I was able to get to sleep after two days of lying there unable
to sleep except for a couple of times about an hour each time, then
sleeping much of the next two days and only getting up occasionally for an
hour or so did more good than the chicken soup.

Maybe instead of the orange juice I should have gotten V-8 juice and added
some cayenne pepper to see if that would have burned it out of me any
faster . . .

BTW, they call it chronic bronchitis because it recurs over and
over. Most of the time, chronic bronchitis is what they call a smoker's
cough. Great: I got the disease without even getting to enjoy getting it
. . .

I thought the reference was to SHort Circut. Thus the
3 Stooges reference (if you recall, Number 5 dressed
up 2 of the other 'bots as the 3 stooges and
programmed their silver-screen personas into them). Of
course maybe I just missed the reference and was
barking up the wrong tree. I've forgotten the thread

Maybe that's what color he was? It's been years (perhaps a decade and
more!) since I've seen the movie, so I may very well be misremembering. The
only 'bot I can think of that's purple was from Neon Genesis Evangelion and

guys in suits. And it wasn't that long ago that they got the darn thing
taking its first steps either.

Makes me think that, just a few years down the road, Asimo will be to
robots what the gramophone is to the iPod. (Want to bet the world's
militaries are following all this development with intense interest?)

IIRC the military can already make something similar
to a battlesuit. Making something like giant mechs
(which is what I'm wondering you're referring to?) is
impractical since they would have such a high
silhouette in order to carry a useful warload, and
still have as good (if not better) maneuverability as
a conventional tank. Result: easier to shoot at. If
you're talking about pure battledroids, well, there
are all sorts of problems and issues with that,
software and maintenance being only a couple of
them...

Damon, still waiting for PPCs to be invented so he can
get his own Awesome...

Cute video clip.
I spent a good while watching other clips on this site and reading up on
ASIMO a couple of nights ago... On the (IIRC) Avoiding Obstacles video
(the obstacle being a person), ASIMO does this cute little looking
around dance while walking in place, and on another one involving
interaction with humans, ASIMO looks almost like it is shrugging its
shoulders, as if to say where the heck did she go?
On the Avoiding Obstacles video, it appears that ASIMO is following
the black lines on the floor -- it always walks in straight lines around
the perimeter.
It's amazing to see how much more human-looking the last few versions
have become, especially now that it uses its upper body to maintain
balance.
Really awesome. I wonder how long it'll be 'til they have it driving
cars?

No -- actually I was thinking of Asimo-sized remote controlled assault
troops, sort of like how they do now with ROVs to scout terrain. Only
these guys could carry small weapons as well and snipe the enemy while
still being more or less expendable.

Cannon fodder that doesn't care about being shot. With a nice
self-destruct to blow itself and any captors up.

Don't like TinyURL myself, but that's because I'm just a pain in the

 Thanks, Chad

I am always amazed at the websites that employers (or the firm that they
contract) choose to block. At the DoD, where I am Contractor Scum, they have
chosen to block major portions of Microsoft.com, especially in the support
areas, but yet they allow access to eBay, American Idol websites, and
various other non work related websites. The DoD blocks Abebooks.com, but
yet they allow access to Amazon.com. But the ultimate example of government
bureaucracy is they have fired and severally punished employees for
accessing porn at the Maxim magazine website. But yet, they actually sell
Maxim magazine in the sundry story on the base and in my building. Go
figure.
