Re: [BVARC] ARMG -- June Program -- Tomorrow night on Zoom

2020-06-22 Thread Bruce via BVARC
I have a Windows PC. Tried to load DXlab one day to see how it works.
Loaded up but never ran, could not do anything. Their tech support said
to reformat my hard drive, install Windows and then install their
program. If their software has to run on a clean PC without anything
else, that was not the software for me. Although I know there are many
using it, just did not workout for me.

I have used PDA's Logic since, well, since about 1993. Have gone through
many iterations and upgrades. Never hurts to see what other packages can
do. Maybe I would have found a neat feature that I really liked. Never
know.

[BVARC] Old cd recorder

I have an old 8 in one radio plus turntable plus cassette plus cd recorder.
However the cd tray is not working. Does anyone know someone who could
repair it? If it’s working I can copy LP and 45s to Cds. Thanks

That explains it. I've used both Zoom and Webex and their screen layouts
look very similar.

So the guy who started Zoom worked at Webex.

Re: [BVARC] Update on Houston ECHO Society

2020-06-22 Thread Christopher Boone via BVARC
Hope the earlier reply that was blank didn't make it out...stupid phone..

ECHO was started as an open autopatch repeater club for the Houston area.
The original rptr was on 147.09 located off 249 west of I10 on a Bowen
Smith tower at 500 ft.

Eventually, the 224.26 and 147.33 sister repeaters were located there as
well. When the 20kHz change came to Texas, the 2m rptrs were moved to
147.08 and 147.32 respectively.

Originally all 3 were Spectrum SCR1000s with the SCAP board for autopatch.
Later an ill fated microprocessor rptr was installed on 08 but poor
shielding and design caused micro noise in the audio and intermod occurred
due to a mix of 610 KILT AM right up the road.

With American Tower buying out Bowen Smith, ECHO was able to stay for a
while on the site but eventually ATC pushed them off. By this time, cell
service made autopatches somewhat useless.

I was a control op of the system in the early 80s when WB5OHH was trustee
of the ECHO repeaters.

Hey Will,

I think you need to do a bit more homework. Zoom is an American company
publically traded and listed on the Nasdaq. The big brewhaha about China
Servers was true for certain users but went away a few months ago. Zoom
has responded to the security issues, the Zoom bombing issues and has
improved their overall PtoP product..

Source of this information was me following Zoom news but you can find it
on the Business Insider and many other business webnews sites too.
