I had a great time this past weekend working the CQ WPX RTTY Contest with my
recently lengthened end-fed wire. It grew from 73ft to 114ft and will now tune
to frequencies that it didn't like very well at the shorter length.
I enjoy working the "Hunt & Pounce" mode and logged 254 contacts and several
countries outside the US and Canada on 15, 20,40, & 80.
15 Meters: Brazil, Canada, Chile, Dominican Republic, Uruguay
20 Meters: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Cuba,
Dominican Republic,Guatemala, Mexico, Poland, Spain, Slovak Republic
40 Meters: Italy, Spain, France
80 Meters: Cayman Islands, Cuba, Mexico
Not bad for a HOA restricted antenna.
RTTY is a great mode for hams looking to get started in contesting.

Perhaps 20 ft of RG-213 would be ideal for a 6-8? D x 6-8 turns as suggested by
MFJ. I could use something less, but I am hoping to keep every db I can.

[BVARC] Repeater Down?

2021-02-15 Thread Donald Brown via BVARC
Friends,

I was in a QSO with K5BOI and then the repeater seems to be down.

It’s not my transceiver, as I can hit other repeaters.

Re: [BVARC] BVARC Digest, Vol 132, Issue 13

2021-02-15 Thread Rick Hiller via BVARC
Sometimes a choke is a balun. Depending on where/how it is used.

Gonna be very heavy though, 20’ of 213 hanging mid-air at the feedpoint. If
that’s how u r deploying it.
