[BVARC] The hams one meets

2024-03-07 Thread Mark via BVARC

* Started by reading the article in QST

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ypIXioilhzbpNVZMIUIkiDqFhTyl-sQB/view

Check out the Feb 2023 QST article [1] on CW Hotline

* Went to the Vband site to listen.

https://hamradio.solutions/vband/

I tried to join using the ctrl keys of the keyboard - I am not good at
tapping out code and it showed.

 	* Ordered the CW Hotline kit to be able to use a paddle; it is the
best way to eliminate the latency. Very easy to assemble. Mechanical
alignment obstacles; headers needed to be perpendicular to PC board
(EXACTLY) and pushbutton switch needs to align with hole in case. I was
not able to get the paddles to behave like a expensive paddle.
 	* The Vband site one can choose with /without decoder. I choose with
decoder. I want to see what my code looks like when decoded. My sending
needs improvement. So daily I practice sending pangrams has improved it
greatly.
 	* When I go to the Vband site, I look for stations that are on the
site. When you go to the VBAND site it will assign you an alias; one can
go to settings and change that.

* This morning looking at the email from the Japan A1Club

I see this posting Below:
I see that K5GQ/Mark's callsign popped up in JJ1XTG Socho-san's video on
VBand recently.

https://youtu.be/EvpJYvl-ql0?si=zcbNKePWCW8ifJuH

I have chatted with Yasu. He goes to a coffee shop and uses the WIFI to
connect to Vband.

I joined the channel about ½ way through the video. I was waiting to see
if I would get an invite.

Mark
