If you have been procrastinating on your operating slot selection, now is
the time to do it. There are plenty of open slots in the operating schedule
for you. CW, Phone, Digital, please help eliminate the white spaces! Also,
there are several volunteers available to help budding contest operators,
just look at the bottom. The link is below:

[BVARC] Field Day - This Weekend June 23rd and 24th

2018-06-22 Thread Mike Hardwick via BVARC
Field Day is finally here. Only hours to go.

Set-up for the Quad Club Field Day Extravaganza starts in just a few hours
today. Club members from all over Texas will be zeroing in on Duhacsek Park
in Sugar Land to set-up antennas and equipment for Field Day. If everything
is set-up in time, we should start at 1 pm on Saturday and finishing up on 1
pm Sunday. So

Don't forget to sign up to operate for Field Day. There are still plenty of
slots open for all bands. Allen Brier put together a great signup sheet so
take advantage of it. You can sign up at:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_CoLXpiWzGCTqBPevjCRejNDlf4T4hQYEWmW
h2OI6AA/edit?usp=sharing

Also please remember that once the fun has ended on Sunday around 1 pm, help
is needed to tear down and clean-up the site. We want to make sure we left
the community center in better shape than we found it. Let's make this a
permanent home for Field Day for the clubs since it offers us so much for
the event.

See everyone there. .

[BVARC] Field Day - This Weekend June 23rd and 24th

2018-06-21 Thread Mike Hardwick via BVARC

Field Day is finally here (or it will be here in 54 hours)!

Set-up starts tomorrow afternoon and finishes around 1 pm on Saturday. Then
the event starts around 1pm on Saturday through 1 pm Sunday. With four ham
radio clubs groups joining together again this year, this combined Field Day
is quickly becoming one of the largest Field Day gatherings in Texas. With
the event being held at Duhacsek Park off Old Richmond Road and Voss this
year, we will have more room to set-up and operate than we ever have had
before.

Don't forget to sign up to operate for Field Day. The web site to sign up on
is:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_CoLXpiWzGCTqBPevjCRejNDlf4T4hQYEWmW
h2OI6AA/edit?usp=sharing

Allen Brier has done a great job on putting together the signup sheet and it
is extremely easy. We need more operators to sign up so we can fill up all
the time slots.

Last but not least, once the fun has ended on Sunday around 1 pm, we will
need to help tear down and clean-up the site. We want to make sure we left
the community center in better shape than we found it. I am hoping this can
become a permanent home for Field Day for clubs since it offers us so much
for the event.

I want to thank Bill, Scott, Jimmy, Doug, Jerry, Rick, Dave and many others
for their hard work on putting this together.

See everyone there. .

Hi Mike,

Something came up and I was unable to attend the Field day on Sat. I was
wondering if there is a way that I can advertise a couple of Tower antennas
to the BVAC/Ham community? If so can you tell me how to proceed?

Thanks,

CQ CQ CQ FIELD DAY! is this weekend June 24 and 25th!

SETUP will begin TOMORROW at the Field Day Site at 1PM, 1300hrs, 1800 UTC

www.worldtimebuddy.com

Remaining setup will start at 0700 Saturday morning and Operations are
scheduled to begin at 1 PM.1300hrs . Help is needed to set up and make sure
all of the bugs (no pun intended) are out so that our event runs smoothly.

Elmers will need to be present to help those that are new to all of this
become oriented.

Field Day is ham radio's open house. Every June, more than 40,000 hams
throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public
places to demonstrate ham radio's science, skill and service to our
communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency
preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single
event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933, and remains the most
popular event in ham radio.

BVARC is conducting FIELD Day this year on June 24th and 25th for the first
time as a FOUR CLUB Event. BVARC, TDXS (Texas DX Society), ECHO (Houston
ECHO Society), and KARS (Katy Amateur Radio Society) all will be operating
participating under the KK5W club call with K5DX as the GOTA (Get on the
Air) call. Field Day is the Premier Operating event of the year and it is up
to YOU to make it a success. The KEY is for everyone to have fun. The
fellowship while experiencing the art and craft of radio communications is
an amazing experience that is shared by all.

Air Conditioning is Provided.. After all this is summer in Texas.

FOOD, snacks and drinks are provided at no cost to attendees. Lunch and
Dinner will keep everyone powered up on Saturday afternoon and evening and
Breakfast on Sunday morning.

WE need operators for the overnight period and those who wish to sleep for a
while will have space provided (Bedding is not furnished).

Operators are needed for every band and mode. If you want to operate, check
the spreadsheet and indicate a time, band and mode that you would like to
operate. If you do not know where to look, a link is provided on the BVARC
website and Facebook page.

GOTA is an introduction to Ham Radio for those without a license, newly
license and Technician Class licensees so that they can get their feet wet
grabbing a microphone and experiencing the thrill of making a contact with
someone across the country or possibly across the world. A coach will be
there to help with the experience.

Visitors are welcome, and a license is not required. So, Scouts, Youth
Groups and adults with an interest in radio communications can come out and
participate with us. This is an annual event is sponsored by ARRL.

The Regular meat and potatoes stations that will operate will be operating
on the primary phone (voice), CW (morse code) and RTTY (radio telegraphy) HF
bands. The event simulates emergency operations and communications.

Power to ALL radios will be supplied by emergency power sources including
solar.

The Place: Pecan Grove Volunteer Fire Department

Address:727 Pitts Road

Richmond, TX

Time: Saturday, June 24th --- 1PM until 1PM on June 25th This is a 24 hour
