[cayugabirds-l] Fwd: [eBird Alert] Tompkins County Rare Bird Alert

2021-05-03 Thread Dave Nutter
Here’s a fun birding game. By some fluke of eBird programming a checklist
submitted from somewhere else in the world got listed instead as being at
Stewart Park, so the species are listed as rare - outrageously so. There are
birds which I suspect haven’t ever been found in North America. Based on the
ranges of those birds (remember this is migration season), where do you think
the checklist was made? After you have guessed, you can click the link to see
the checklist, and when it gets corrected, you’ll see the actual location.

[cayugabirds-l] Blue winged warbler

2021-05-03 Thread anneb . clark
Shortly after I got my first view of a Rose-breasted Grosbeak male rather than
just a song, a Blue-winged Warbler male investigated the bushes where one set
of feeders sits - and took a miscalculated bounce off my screen. Unfortunately
my camera was not at hand to record this surprise.

2021-05-03 Thread Melissa Groo
This morning I heard a SCARLET TANAGER singing, and soon after was able to
photograph him in a tree in my yard next to Shindagin Hollow State Forest.
He joins the throngs of EVENING GROSBEAKS still here, and, other birds of
note, the recently-arrived RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD, CATBIRD, and 2
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKS.

Happy Spring!
