[cayugabirds-l] Seneca Lake St Park (Gulls, GWFG, CAGE, MUSW)
Swung through Seneca Lake SP about 7:30 this morning. Huge Aythya raft was a ways offshore (moving closer when I left). Lots of Canada Geese near the shore, with a few possible Cackling among them. Large group of gulls across from entrance area included what I believe were a couple Glaucous Gulls. Also had 4 Greater White-fronted Geese in with the Canada Geese. 8 Swans were flying east, all Mute with a possible Trumpeter in the group (or maybe just a juvenile mute?). Lots of Common Mergansers, Am Goldeneye, Mallards, & Black Ducks scattered around. A juvenile Eagle flew in & chased off the gulls just as I was leaving. Don't think they flew very far. A lot more birds down by the Ramada/Chamber of Commerce areas but didn't have time to stop to view them. Photos on my Facebook page - would appreciate confirming my ID's. -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
[cayugabirds-l] Seneca Lake St Park
Drove around this morning, very few Canada Geese - no Greater-white Fronted seen, but did have 1 Brant near the canal entrance/marina. A few ducks included Mallard, Am Black, Scaup, Redhead, Bufflehead, & C. Mergansers. GBB Gulls have started showing up also. A juvenile Bald Eagle was perched near the entrance of the park. [cayugabirds-l] Seneca Lake St Park correction/addition
Forgot to mention (after reviewing my pics) the N. Pintails and Ruddy Ducks also at Seneca Lake State Park. After a closer look, I'm leaning towards Lesser Scaup female due to a more pointed head. -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --

We found the Egyptian goose dead about a week ago. --Linda Linda Clark Benedict Sent from my iPod On Feb 18, 2012, at 5:20 PM, Mark Miller wrote: > Quick notes on Seneca Lake St Park for Sat AM. [cayugabirds-l] Seneca Lake St Park, Sodus Point
Quick notes on Seneca Lake St Park for Sat AM. Bald Eagle (mature) is still hanging out across the canal from the marina, Am Wigeon, C. Goldeneye, C. Mergansers, Bufflehead, Mallards, Black Ducks all present. Couple swans too far out for an ID. No sign of the Egyptian Goose. Sodus Pt pier (1 PM), lots and lots of Long-tailed Ducks but not much else. A few WW Scoters out past the end of the pier and a few RB Mergansers about. Only a few RB Gulls flying around. Did see the King Eider (female) near the end of the east pier, just before very dark clouds moved in about 2 PM & it started storming. -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
