[OSL | CCIE_Security] BGP RTBH

2013-02-27 Thread Kevin Sheahan
I'm making my first pass through the DocCD trying to find certain topics
which I'm not currently able to configure by memory and I cannot find RTBH
anywhere. Am I going crazy, or is this topic just not in Cisco docs?

I've tried searching google with..
site:cisco.com remotely triggered black hole
site:cisco.com rtbh
site:cisco.com bgp black hole
and a few others...

All I ever get is one white-paper, several from cisco support forum, and
several from the learning network.

I will know how to configure it by memory come lab time, but I still want
to know where it is in the Doc-CD.

Kind Regards,

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Here it is:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/iosswrel/ps6537/ps6586/ps6642/prod_white_paper0900aecd80313fac.pdf

Guess what? You cant get to this whilst in the Lab exam. You are
well advised to know how to do this prior to going to the lab as you
will not have access to this reference if you are confronted with an
RTBH question.

Cheers,
Matt

Kevin

This is an example of document that, as far as I know, is not part of any
configuration guide/command reference.

2013-02-27 Thread Bruno Silva
Hi Kevin,

Had the same issue as others have had it too.

The thing is, so far I could not figure out where the RTBH configuration sample
is. What I can tell is that the pieces of the configuration are in the
configuration guide but they are not foccused in one point, what means that it
probably does not have an example of it. If I where YOU I would make sure that
I can do it without the configuration guide or, you can chop up the parts and
search for each one separately.

That`s my insight with this topic.

BR,
Bruno Silva.

From what I remember, you will be hard-pressed to find RTBH on the
DocCD. It's not a technology per se, rather a creative use of several
technologies and as such is not documented in the configuration and
command references.

It's not as complicated as it seems and we have a pretty good free
resource you can use to learn it:

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Security] BGP RTBH

2013-02-27 Thread Kevin Sheahan
Nice, thanks everyone for your quick responses. I will most definitely
ensure that I am able to configure this from memory by the time the exam
comes around. It shouldn't be a problem.. as with many other topics once
you first see it, it looks like a ton of work. With some practice it will
be all good. There was once a time where I used to say you have to be crazy
to configure ASA VPN's in the CLI, but with as much practice that comes
with studying for CCNP Security then CCIE Security Lab I am now most
comfortable in the CLI (except for certain AnyConnect items, of course).

Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing it somewhere in the Doc-CD..
thanks again for your responses!

2012-07-09 Thread Matt Hill
Gday everyone,

Is there a place in documentation for BGP RTBH?

I have found this document:

http://www.cisco.com/web/about/security/intelligence/blackhole.pdf

Which is fine, however it is not in the documentation we have access
to in the lab.

Cheers,
Matt

I just practiced it half a dozen times and it is now on my fingertips.
Try the same approach. And just try to understand its logic.
