Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] GDM configuration with notification on 2phones

2009-06-09 Thread wilfred d'souza
Guys,

How about this...

Phone
  1
  Line1
  : 3001
  Line2
  : 3101

  Phone
  2
  Line1
  : 3002
  Line2
  : 3102

  If
  GDM extn is 3005, then

  ephone-dn 3
number 3005 secondary 3101

ephone-dn 4
number 3005 secondary 3102

ephone 1
button 1:1 2m3

ephone 2
button 1:2 2m4

I guess this would work correct?

Thanks,
Wilfred

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] SIP endpoints on the other side of an H.323 trunk...

2009-06-09 Thread Jonathan Charles
Found a weird statement in a Cisco doc:

"SIP endpoints are not supported on H.323 trunks. SIP endpoints are
supported on SIP trunks only"

This was in the SRST System Admin guide under Octo-Lines...

I thought the CUBE fixed this?

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] PSTN Emulation vs3 lab

Yes.

I am using a Cisco 3725 with an AIM-VOICE-30 (for DSPs), it has two T1
PRIs and one E1 PRI (never could figure out how to emulate an E1 R2).

It also has an NM-32A for Console access to the Cisco racks and it is
our frame-relay switch...

Just set your PRI to emulate network side and use a T1 crossover to
connect em...

Oh, it is also running CCME for the PSTN phones

'Full SIP features', in the context of Cisco, means 'about 80% of the

And you need to know what those limitations are.

I tried this on my lab,
CUE 7 configuration is straightford just follow the SRND the same with
CUC 7
Only problem I found was Licence for VMIM in CUC 7. The DEMO/NFR kit
dont have it.

Configuration should be similar to V2

Yep, that's one of the things about
the new Linux appliances..  The hardware support is
really strict.  Try an IBM or HP branded server
equalivent and you'll go crazy.  But it's a LOT better
than customers installing stuff on the windows boxes and
wondering why the server doesn't work anymore and you spend
all night fixing it (basically reinstalling.)

If for a lab, install VMWARE on it like stated below and
run multiple applications on it.  The 7845 would be a
pretty nice box for a VMWare machine.  We have two in
our demo racks with Raid5, more memory, etc.  Pretty
 speedy.

If for production, must order another server.  No way
around it.  And you wouldn't want to go around it
 anyways.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] V3 questions... again...

2009-06-09 Thread Jonathan Charles
OK, I know this is getting tedious, but there is very little info out
there and my date is July 27th.

Are any of the following possible or likely:

Dual or quad CUPS servers.
Dual or quad UCCX servers.
External LDAP
External LCS/OCS
SIP trunk provider for PSTN access from a site

I need to remove things that are unlikely/improbable...

After going thru CUPS, there had BETTER be an LDAP on the network.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Blocking CUPC clients from seeing presence of other CUPC clients...

2009-06-09 Thread Jonathan Charles
Yeah, I told the customer that, he was offended that that was all I could do...

He has a lot of users who need to not be able to send messages to
other users (mostly the IT help desk is getting pounded by IMs from
everyone who should be calling in thru UCCX).

He wants the users to not be able to send IMs or even see the status
of his help desk people if he has to have each of his IT people
block a user each time a user sends an IM, this is going to get out of
control fast...

I did find one way, but it blows (rearranging the OUs of his network)...

Now, if Cisco let you configure multiple LDAP user search bases, and
add them to a specific profile, so I could segment out the help desk
and just not add them to be searchable... that would work, but Cisco
only lets you select ONE LDAP search criterium.

The primary extension is set.

Both CUPC and the 7961 are associated to the user.

The user is assigned to the DN on both devices.

The user is listed as a UserID on both devices.

CUPS is 7.0(2); CUCM is 7.0(1)

Line1 : 3001

Line2 : 3101

Phone 2

Line1 : 3002

Line2 : 3102
If GDM extn is 3005, then

ephone 1button 1:1 2m5,3
ephone 2button 1:2  2m5,4
Lemme know if this works... I dont have it setup right now else would have
tested it but if i remember it I think I had accomplished this

If you cofigure overlay as Cliff

envelope to show on both phones. But if you will do this, you will modify the
look of the phone(second line will show this extension).

Actually, you might be able to do it if it is on CME.

Assign button 2 as an overlay, and put the mailbox number DN

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Quick way to wipe voicemail from ALL mailboxes.

2009-06-09 Thread Michael Ciarfello
Hmmm. Look around tools depot!

Is deleting the users and re-creating an option?

How about setting the max mailbox size to 0 in Exchange? Then set it back?
There might be a few more or other things in Exchange you can do. I don't know
Exchange well enough off the top of my head, but hopefully that provides some
insight.

If UM, open the mailbox in Outlook and delete then empty trash.

Hope that helps.

Does anyone know of a way to wipe all voicemails from a single or ALL mailboxes
quickly.

After messing around with various configs, I end up with a lot of messages to
delete.

Is there anything in Cisco unity tool depot?

Make sure the setting for Primary Extension on the user page looks OK. If
both the softphone and deskphone share the same extension, you should be OK

OK Gang - just spoke with Mark.
He wanted me to let all of you know that the labs will start to be released
toward the end of next week and will keep coming until Vol 1 is finished.
I can tell you that you will not be disappointed.

I have reviewed some of the other vendors materials and can tell you that
they are lacking in comparison. One vendors materials doesn't even have
troubleshooting labs for each technology

So keep watching the blog, twitter and the forum and we'll let you know when
the new labs are being released.

OK, so we basically have three statuses...

Available, green with a checkbox

Idle, Yellow with a minus sign...

and DND which is red with a slash

How do we show that someone is on the phone? It appears to only work

to use the deskphone and make the call either thru the desk phone or
thru CUPC, I do not show as on the phone from other users...

Control of the phone from CUPC works fine... no probs at all...

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Blocking CUPC clients from seeing presence of other CUPC clients...

2009-06-09 Thread Jonathan Charles
How do you block CUPC users from seeing other CUPC users?

I have changed Presence Groups for user A and User B so they are
disallowed subscriptions... I have changed SUBSCRIBE CSS to not
include the partition of the other user... I even changed the LDAP
profiles in CUPS so they couldn't see the other OU... and they can
still see the presence status, still send/receive IMs...

Now, once I changed the LDAP search base on CUPS, you can no longer
search for the user and add em to your buddy list... but no presence
info is blocked...

How do you block this for CUPC?

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] 6500 QoS Marking

2009-06-09 Thread Brad Godwin
I have the following configuration on a 6500 (Sup1A, PFC, 6348 line card,
7.6(1) code). CCM version is 4.1(3) sr8. I have configured CCM to send AF31
instead of CS3. I have verified that it is indeed sending AF31 with Wireshark.
The problem I am having is that the traffic coming from the CCM is being
remarked to DSCP 0 in the 6500, again verified with Wireshark when I am looking
at the trunk to the 3640. The only way I am able to get the CCM traffic
marked as AF31 is to change the default IP ACL. Any ideas as to why I am not
seeing CCM traffic marked with AF31

Here is a crude diagram.
CCM6500-3640
CCM is on port 4/11 in vlan 41
Phones are on 4/1-2
Trunk to router is on 4/10

#qos

set qos acl ip CCM_Server dscp 26 tcp any any range 2000 2002

Hi Saud,

It sounds a little confusing. Let me know if I got this right?

You want to be able to dial an extension, but it might be one at a remote
branch that's only connected via PSTN, so you have to translate that extension
to full e164 number?

If the statement above is true, then it seems you only need to change the
destination-pattern in your dial peer:

> > dial-peer voice 5900 pots
> > translation-profile outgoing outgoingcall
> > destination-pattern 0800... <- This needs to be 0845...

Give that a try.

I used test voice translation profile rule 1 4545 and it shows that my config

Christian,

I have seen this symptom before, but I do not know if you are experiencing the
same cause.

I fought for hours trying to figure out why the messages did not arrive, when
in reality they had

(but had not been distributed to the mailboxes yet). If your NTP for the 852
site is set to an earlier timezone

( say +8) and you send the message to a later timezone (say -5) marked
"immediate" it gets stored in the "future broadcasts".

The only way I know of to check is to dial into the Broadcast Administrator and
check for pending messages (I think that is the

menu selection. You should find it there if you are experiencing what I did.

Good Luck!

Art

Hi all,

Today I had a strange problem on a ProctorLabs rack.

I couldn't nail VPIM Broadcast from CUE to Unity. I did this many times before
but today it didn't work.

Normal VPIM message is working perfect. Please see below related config on CUE:

network location id "104"

 email domain voip.lab

 name "UNITY-LAB"

 voicemail broadcast vpim-id

 end location

network location id "852"

 email domain cciev.com

 name "cue"

 voicemail broadcast vpim-id

 end location

network local location id 852

In Unity I had normal stuff for VPIM configured. Normal VPIM works in both
directions. Broadcast VPIM from Unity to CUE works.

I have ping in unity-lab.voip.lab from CUE.

Debug from CUE looks ok:

Anyone faced it before? I changed "broadcast message verify interval" at 1
minute, I waited 10 minutes probably but ... nothing.

Any idea would be highly appreciated,

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Translation Problem

Hi Saud,

It sounds a little confusing. Let me know if I got this right?

You want to be able to dial an extension, but it might be one at a remote
branch that's only connected via PSTN, so you have to translate that
extension to full e164 number?

If the statement above is true, then it seems you only need to change the
destination-pattern in your dial peer:

> > dial-peer voice 5900 pots
> > translation-profile outgoing outgoingcall
> > destination-pattern 0800... <- This needs to be 0845...

Give that a try.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Translation Problem

2009-06-09 Thread Saud Azar

I like to perform digit manipulation where if a user dials four digit extension
it should automatically convert to a e.164 number

for example if a user dials 4545 the number converts to a 5551123

I used test voice translation profile rule 1 4545 and it shows that my config
is fine. I know i am going wrong somewhere.

I hope I made it clear of what I am trying to achieve, sorry guys i am newbie
to voice and testing in my home lab.

Thanks
