Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] UCCX

2014-05-21 Thread Gurpreet Singh Kukreja
Hi Israa,

If never worked before with UCCX, i would recommend starting with SRND or
design guide (its not that big) and Admin guides. It would be very useful
to install a UCCX in lab and play around with it. You'd find many videos on
YouTube to explain installation and integration with CUCM. Another useful
document to look at would be the compatibility matrix to understand
supported platforms and more.

Here's a link where you can find all documentation for UCCX:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/customer-collaboration/unified-contact-center-express/tsd-products-support-series-home.html

About the certification, you just have one certification for UCCX;

Hi Ben,

Yes. You have to add ccm-manager fallback-mgcp for the MGCP in SRST
scenario.

*Configuring MGCP Gateway Fallback and Cisco SRST ** ***

* To make outbound calls while in SRST mode on your MGCP gateway, you must
configure two fallback commands on the MGCP gateway. These two commands
allow SRST to assume control over the voice port and over call processing
on the MGCP gateway. With Cisco IOS releases prior to 12.3(14)T, you must
configure MGCP gateway fallback by using the ccm-manager fallback-mgcp and call
application alternate commands. With Cisco IOS releases after 12.3(14)T,
you must configure MGCP gateway fallback by using the ccm-manager
fallback-mgcp and service commands. *

You'd need to add the recording step to the script and a document type
variable. Then you'd need to assign that variable under properties of the

Practice it number of times. Another thing, this recording step stores the
prompts under temp folder inside wfavvid folder.

Subject: Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] UCCX - the scripting query

First you have to record the prompts, I recommend knowing how to do that
in uccx and CUC. You never know when one method might not work. Recording
script is easy, just use the icd.aef script, get rid of most and add the
 recording feature from media.

I record with UCCX so the files are stored with a strange name so I
suggest changing it to something like thereare.wav and callsahead.wav but
anything that helps you. Change the name before using the uccx web page to
upload the prompts so they are available in the script repository, you need
to use the appadmin page to do this.

Then you get a reporting statistic showing the callers position in queue,
decrement this by 1 then create a prompt from that number.

Now you have three prompts, the two you recorded and the one you just
create, use a container prompt to put all three together. Now play that
prompt and then connect the user to the selected resource.

Hugo,

As far as i know, it's an open book exam, which means, you should have
access to Tech Notes and other important documents (keeping in mind the
necessity of the exam) on cisco.com.

Specifically, not sure what you're looking for through that path?

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] ipcc extension missing

2013-01-25 Thread Gurpreet Singh Kukreja
Run these commands on the CM Pub:

This will show the status to confirm:

run sql select paramname, paramvalue from processconfig where paramname
like '%nstalled%'

This will change the value to true (T):

run sql update processconfig set paramvalue=T where paramname like
'%nstalled%'

Your enterprise parameter for ipcc express installed is set to false, to
set it to true (and for ipcc extension to show up), run the second command.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] UCCX one button login

2013-01-05 Thread Gurpreet Singh Kukreja
Singh,

Could it be possible you've multiple services configured for the IPPA? How
many servers do you have for IPCC? Which one is the Master?

Do this:

1) Make sure when you create the service you use the following: (THIS IS
CASE SENSITIVE)

a) URL:
http://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:6293/ipphone/jsp/sciphonexml/IPAgentLogin.jsp

b) Define Three Params : (Exactly Like below)

- Ext
- ID
- Pwd

2) Apply the Service on the phones and fill the information

- Ext: IPCC extension defined in the End user
- ID: End user ID (Case sensitive)
- Pwd: Password for End user (This is password defined on the end user, not
the pin)

3) Make sure you have the IPCC Extension defined on the end user account
4) Make sure you have the Agent's Phone associated with the RM Application
user on the CM.
5) The error message;

Either the agent ID or password u entered is invalid

This is seen most likely when the ID or the Password entered is not correct
which means, either you typed the password incorrectly or the ID could have
some characters which did not match the ID on the CCX. Make sure it is case
sensitive.2

6) Make sure you have the Agent's phone associated with the End user
account (kind of obvious if you want to assign the IPCC extension but no
harm in mentioning)

If none of the above works, then restart the CTI Manager on the CM followed
by BIPPA service on IPCC, reset one of the phones and then try again.

Attach the error message on the phone here if you still face an issue.

Gurpreet

Also, is there any other service assigned to the phone (s) and are they

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] UCCX - Do CTI Ports in Partition work ?

2012-06-11 Thread Gurpreet Singh Kukreja
Hi Pavan,

We've seen this behavior with UCCX.

Logically, the calls should work w/ or w/o partition applied on the CTI
Port Group, keeping in mind the CSS applied on the CTI Route Point.

Few things to keep in mind:

1) Always apply the changes on these Triggers/ Port Groups from the CCX and
never from the CM.
2) If you apply the correct CSS on the Trigger which includes the partition
of the Port group, the calls should work.
3) Even after applying the changes if the calls do not work, it could be
very possible that the changes you're making from the CCX are not getting
updated on the CM. In this case, first run the Data Resync from the CCX and
make sure there are no exceptions in the output. Then, restart the CTI
Manager on all CM servers and then restart the CCX Engine.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] [Resolved] UCCX - Do CTI Ports in Partition work ?

2012-06-11 Thread Gurpreet Singh Kukreja
Hi Pavan,

I would like to add a few things here. The only place the CSS of the caller
matters is when they're calling the CTI Route Point and not the ports.

Let me give an example. Consider the below call flow:

Caller's Cell Phone Dials the 10 digit # for the Co. PRI MGCP G/W
4 digits enter the CM Matches a Translation Pattern Forwards the
Calls to the CTI Route Point of the CCX CTI port answers the call and
then the Agent picks up the call.

Now think at what all places do we need a CSS and what partition we need to
hit:

1) G/W's Inbound CSS should have the PT for the TP (If any)
2) TP's CSS should have the PT of the CTI Route Point.
3) CTI Route Point's CSS should have the PT of the CTI Ports.
4) Finally, CTI Port's CSS should have the Partition of the Agent's Phone.

In this scenario, Endpoint's CSS matters to reach the next destination.

Hope this makes sense.

Gurpreet

 Hi Pavan,

We've seen this behavior with UCCX.

Logically, the calls should work w/ or w/o partition applied on the CTI
 Port
Group, keeping in mind the CSS applied on the CTI Route Point.

I would think that the inbound caller (ip phone or gw) would need the CSS
 to
 access the CTI ports.

 pavan,

I worked on uccx lab and it worked fine for me. All that you need to
remember one point always, what does the CTI Route point has to see. in
 this
case the CTI route point has to see the phones partition in order to
handover the calls to the phone agents. Check that internal dns are listed
in your css to make this work.

 thank you
 krishna.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] callback

2012-06-11 Thread Gurpreet Singh Kukreja
Hi Joel,

Are there two call manager servers? Did the phones flap between servers
(Pub Sub) cos of any service restarts? Are the phone currently registered
to there Primary CM server?

The Cisco Call Back feature allows you to receive call back notification on
your Cisco IP Phone when a called party line becomes available. To receive
call back notification, a user presses the CallBack softkey while receiving
a busy or ringback tone. You can activate call back notification on a line
on a Cisco IP Phone within the same Cisco CallManager cluster as your
phone. You cannot activate call back notification if the called party has
forwarded all calls to another extension.
This explains when you can actually press the key. Finally, make sure
Cisco Extended Functions is running on the servers.

Also try going through this link which explains some t/shooting steps
(although old but should help):

Can you attach a screenshot of the error?

The error you see usually comes when CCX believes that the agent is already
logged in. Do you always logout the Agent from CAD when you close your
sessions? Make sure the same id/extension is not used anywhere else to
login.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] UCCX Scripts End Step

2012-04-26 Thread Gurpreet Singh Kukreja
Hi Ken,

When we get into the real world for the scripts, there are tons of
complicated scripts where these steps become a necessity and are very
useful. From a CCIE lab scenario, this is really not a mandate but like you
mentioned, it's a good practice as the scripts in the lab are fairly simple.

To answer your other question, the script does not necessarily hang in the
same place but there are times when you'd not see expected results. As
such, i would personally use a Go To step in all four sub-menu types to
make sure whenever a call hits any of those, the call is handled properly.

Primarily, we use the Go To step under these sub-menu types to make sure
that the sessions are not stuck (i.e., CTI Port is released after a call is
handled)

 Hi Gurpeet,

 Thanks for your recommendation.

Take an example , we use a menu step to redirect a call based on a user
 input.

this shows many output flows such as timeout , busy , invalid ,
 unsuccessful.

As per your logic , does script hangs in that place if such an (undesired)
event occur. I thought script moves forward through next listed steps.

Do we need only a goto end step , only under successful call-contact ?

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] UCCX Agent Automatic Available

2012-04-25 Thread Gurpreet Singh Kukreja
Hi Ken,

I would like to clarify the behavior for you here.

1) Automatic Available setting is only available on the Resource (Agent)
Level. Not on the CSQ or in the System Params.
2) CSQ contains the setting for the Automatic Work and the Timer you can
set for the Work State for the Agents.
3) The setting in the System Params, Agent State after Ring No Answer*
applies only when there is Ring No Answer, i.e., when the agent does not
answer the call and it determines the state of the Agent if they do not
answer a call.

So, the features of *Automatic Available* on the Agent level and *Automatic
Work* at the CSQ Level go hand in hand. Let me explain:

Example:

- Let's say we have a CSQ name Q and agent A is a part of this Q.
- A call comes to this queue (Q) and agent A answers the call.
- Now the feature of Automatic Work at the CSQ level and the timer set
with it (IF ENABLED), will set the Agent state to Work for the amount of
Time defined at the CSQ level.
- After the timer expires, the next state for the Agent will be determined
on the basis of the Automatic Available setting for the agent. If
Automatic Available is set to Enabled at the Resource Level, then after
the Work Timer expires, Agent will go to Ready State. If Automatic
Available is set to Disabled, then after the work timer, the agent will
go into Not Ready state

NOTE: THE SETTING OF AUTOMATIC WORK AND AUTOMATIC AVAILABLE KICK IN
ONCE THE AGENT HANDLES (Answers) A CALL.

The setting in the System Params kicks in if the Agent DOES NOT answer a
call. I've also attached a couple of screenshots for you here.

HTH

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] UCCX and Media Resources

Hi Chris,

I would verify the following:

1) Region setting between HQ and Branch sites uses G.729.
2) All your CTI Route Points should show in HQ DP on the CM and the CCX.
3) The Media Resource (Xcoder) should be configured on the HQ router.
4) The codec selected on the CCX is G.711.
5) Your IP phones show in the correct Device Pool.

Last but not the least, make sure that the CTI Route point you dial should
also be in the HQ DP with an Xcoder in the MRGL of HQ DP.

Let me know if all the above stands true.

2) Make sure some agent phones are associated with the RMCM user on the CM.
3) If point 1 and 2 don't work, then try this:

- Reset the username and password for RM user from the CCX Admin page. Go
to System Cisco Unified CM Configuration Reset the username and
password for RM user. Once it's done, it'll give you a message to restart
the CCX Engine, do so.

4) Once done, check if the RM comes back in service.
5) If NO, then make sure Point 1 and 2 still stand true.

Let us know.

2012-04-02 Thread Gurpreet Singh Kukreja
Hey Baktha,

When you run the Fresh Install setup from UCCX the first time, those users
are created automatically and the CTI Enabled role is also assigned to them
at the same time; no need for manual intervention.

However, the steps i suggested was to bring back the RM Subsystem back in
service on the CCX if it does not automatically.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Since its an open book exam, try and get familiar with the SRND for CM as
you can easily find URLs' in there as mentioned by some one earlier in this

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] UCCX App Admin Account Question

2012-01-27 Thread Gurpreet Singh Kukreja
Hi Josh,

When the UCCX is integrated with the CM, it uses an active End user account
to be the Application Administrator Account to login into AppAdmin page.

When you run the Fresh Install setup for the first time, you use the
Default username and password for running this setup. You would not use
this username/ password again in normal operations. You'd always use the CM
end user account for maintaining operations.

There could be scenarios where you might need the Default username/
password in case you need to run this setup again for any reason.

Once you run the initial setup and choose the user from the CM end user
section, the setup completes. Once the setup completes, from that point
onwards you only use the CM End user account you made the Admin.

You can again use this username if you need to by setting the CCX system to
Fresh Install mode again using the CET tool. You can access the CET tool
from within the Windows Server:

1) Click Start Run
2) Type cet or cet.bat
3) A new window pops asking to click Yes/No. Always click NO.
4) Look for the tab on the left hand side of the window which goes by the
name, com.cisco.crs.cluster.config.AppAdminSetupConfig. Highlight this
tab and it would show either a single entry in case of a standalone setup/
multiple entries in case of an HA setup.
5) Choose the one for the Publisher. You can identify it by looking at the
Key Value and it should be 1 for Publisher. Double click on it.
6) Go to the second tab on the new window which come on the screen.
7) Select, FRESH_INSTALL from the dropdown and click apply and OK.

Now, launch the AppAdmin page again and you'd be able to use the Default
username and password. Keep in mind, the settings which you put in place
when you ran through the setup the first time would still be there. So, if
you don't mean to change anything, keep clicking NEXT until the setup
completes. Once it completes, close the page and once again you'd be able
to use the CM End user account to login.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Problem with Multicast MOH from router flash

Hi Rynard,

Check the following:

1) When you put the BR1 phone on hold, ssh into your CCM server and run the
command, show perf query class Cisco MOH Device and check if it shows
Multicast Sessions as 1 which would mean an active multicast session.

If the value is 1, then the multicast music is played from the CCM and not
the router.

2) For the PSTN Calls, check:

a) If the Branch router and the Branch site phones are assigned the correct
device pool?
b) Max hops on the MOH server should be set to 1.
c) Region setting between the MOH region if created and applied on the
Device Pool for the MOH server should be G711.
d) The MRGL applied on the Branch phones should contain the Multicast MOH
server.

BR1 ,but when I call from the PSTN to BR1 I get tone on hold. I have the
relevant config on my BR1 router

 Ccm-manager music-on-hold

 Telephony service

 Moh music-on-hold.au

Multicast moh 239.1.1.1 port 16384 route 10.10.110.2 (loopback)
 10.10.201.1 (Voice Int)

I also configured separate DP for MOH server in CUCM with a G711 only
region. I have the MOH setting on the audio source ,server and MRG set.
Another strange thing that I see is when I call from HQ phone to BR1 phone
and I put BR1 phone on hold I hear the MOH stream ,but when I do show
ccm-manager music-on-hold it shows that there are 0 active multicast
 sessions ?

Any ideas ,because I have run out … ?

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Multicast MOH with Branch IP Phones

2011-11-28 Thread Gurpreet Singh Kukreja
Hey Pradeep,

Try this if not done already:

1) Put the Multicast MOH server in a Device Pool named MOH with Region
named MOH.
2) All other regions should talk to this MOH region with G711.
3) On the MOH server enabled with Multicast, put the MAX HOP value to 1.
4) Make sure that the BR Gateway is in BR1 or BR2 (whichever is meant to
be).
5) The correct Device Pools should be applied on all IP Phones.

Hope this Helps.

 - Only 1 MOH server in MRGL with Multicast enabled. (max hop = 1)
 - Multicast routing is disabled on HQ and Branch Site for moh spoofing.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CUCM/UCCX Intergration

2011-11-27 Thread Gurpreet Singh Kukreja
Hey Randall,

First of all, the way to you verify if the CCX is integrated with CUCM is
by scrolling to System Control Center under the CCX AppAdmin page and
making sure that your CCX server looks IN_SERVICE. If not, you need to
find out what component is showing in PARTIAL_SERVICE or OUT_OF_SERVICE.

First thing you need to check is if under the Enterprise Parameters, IPCC
EXPRESS INSTALLED shows TRUE or FALSE. If it shows TRUE, then the CCM is
integrated fine but if it shows False, then you need to get into the CLI
for the CM Pub and run the below commands:

This will show the status to confirm:

run sql select paramname, paramvalue from processconfig where paramname
like '%nstalled%'

This will change the value to true (T):

run sql update processconfig set paramvalue=T where paramname like
'%nstalled%'

Once done, make sure of the following:

If the CM TELEPHONY or the RM JTAPI Subsystems show anything but
IN_SERVICE, try the below:

1) Make sure that the RM and JTAPI application users created on the Call
Manager have CTI Enabled role assigned to them in Call Manager.
2) Secondly, for the RM Subsystem to be IN SERVICE, you'd need to associate
Agent phones with this user. For the CM Telephony to be in service, you'd
need to create atleast one RP or CTI Port Group from CCX.
3) If they both show OUT_OF_SERVICE, reset the username and password for
these users from CCX. Scroll to, System CM Configuration and reset the
username and password for these users.

Once Step 3 is executed, restart the CCX Engine on the CCX server and check
again if the CCX server shows IN SERVICE.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] How do look at this file in CUCM CLI

2011-11-26 Thread Gurpreet Singh Kukreja
Try this:

file view activelog
cm/trace/dbl/sdi/ReplicationStatus.2011_11_26_23_12_59.out

:)

There's another command you can use to check the replication of the cluster:
*
show perf query class Number of Replicates Created and State of
Replication*

The output of this command should be the same on all servers which would
mean good Replication. A good Replication state is 2 and rest anything
means you'd need to fix it.

Then there is always the RTMT.

Try this:

1) Make sure that under the Voice Mail Profile configuration, Voice Mail

2) Second, remove all the CSS and partitions if applied on the VM Port

Did you pick up Call Manager SDI traces yet? What do you see in them? Does
this work fine internally if you dial from an IP Phone registered with the

When the external (PSTN) caller leaves a VM for CUCM IP phones, the MWI
does not lights up, and even the recorded message is not present in the
users mailbox. WHile the CUC tells the PSTN caller that the message has
been received. But actually, I cannot have it in my Phones inbox, nor the
 MWI is turned On.

 Why is it so?

because it'll take preference over *no supplementary-service h225-notify

display number number on the calling phone.

So if nothing is mentioned in the lab about display number , we have to
take our own decision whether we want to maintain the display number or not.

What you guys will recommend, should it go for CPTP Digit manipulation
dial plan or RL/RG Digit manipulation Dial plan ?

 Hi,

This depends on what is asked in the Lab. If the lab tells you to
display 10 digit number then you do it otherwise you don't.

Logically, a user when dials a 7 digit number has no idea where the
call is going from. For him, he is dialing a 7 digit #. So ideally, it
should always display 7 digit called # in this situation.

If nothing is mentioned in lab, i would leave it to 7 digit called #.

  Hello Guys,

Do we really have to take care of dialed display number on the phone
while call is rerouting to the secondary path in CCIE Lab.

 For Example:

HQ phone should be able make Local Calls. If HQ gateway is not
available, the call should reroute via BR1 Gateway.

HQ local number is : 394-2XXX
 (+1-212-394-2XXX).

While rerouting this call via BR1, we have to prefix this number with
 1212 in RL/RG . (91212 in case BR1 is H.323)

At this point the dialed display number on the phone will
automatically change from 393-2XXX to 12123942XXX or something like that.

I know we can take care of it using no supplementary command and
 route pattern.

But my question is , do we really have to worry about this ?

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] User Import to Unity Connection from CallManager

Ken,

Usually I make all the necessary changes to Voicemail User Template before
importing the users into Unity CX unless there are any specific changes
asked for a particular user which would need to be carried out separately
for that user after the import.

I never felt the need to run a sync to update anything after the user
import but doing so should not harm anything. Everything works fine for me.
I think it's more related to sync any changes if made to users on CUCM.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Dialed Display Number.

2011-11-23 Thread Gurpreet Singh Kukreja
Hi,

This depends on what is asked in the Lab. If the lab tells you to display
10 digit number then you do it otherwise you don't.

Logically, a user when dials a 7 digit number has no idea where the call is
going from. For him, he is dialing a 7 digit #. So ideally, it should
always display 7 digit called # in this situation.

If nothing is mentioned in lab, i would leave it to 7 digit called #.

 Hello Guys,

Do we really have to take care of dialed display number on the phone while
call is rerouting to the secondary path in CCIE Lab.

 For Example:

HQ phone should be able make Local Calls. If HQ gateway is not available,
the call should reroute via BR1 Gateway.

HQ local number is : 394-2XXX(+1-212-394-2XXX).

While rerouting this call via BR1, we have to prefix this number with 1212
 in RL/RG . (91212 in case BR1 is H.323)

At this point the dialed display number on the phone will automatically
change from 393-2XXX to 12123942XXX or something like that.

I know we can take care of it using no supplementary command and route
 pattern.

But my question is , do we really have to worry about this ?

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Import/Export configs

2011-11-20 Thread Gurpreet Singh Kukreja
Hi Emanuel,

Yes, if i understand your question correctly you're talking about taking a
DRF backup of the cluster for CUCM and then perform a restore everytime you
start a Lab? Correct me if i'm wrong.

Well, my suggestion would be not to do that since actual lab does not give
you the Devices (phones) pre-registered, no phones/gateways etc. You've to
add the devices yourself. One good reason not to follow this practice is to
time your self when you do your labs and see how quickly can you register
the phones after assigning vlans and ip address.

Nevertheless, if my understanding is correct, then you use the DRF tool to
backup the CCM and then restore everytime you want to start the Lab by
using SFTP tools like freeftpd or coreftp etc.

 Hello Experts,

I finally got all my phones together for my studies (3x7965, 1x7970,
3x7975). I am wondering now if I can actually export the configs of CUCM
after I register my phones so I don't have to be adding them every single
 time I start a lab...

 Any ideas?
