My gues would be the pstn pri does not have 12 channels configured.
The degustation is showing that the t1 is taking channel 12 and it is being
rejected by the router.

To test this theory change the bchannel order around and I bet it works...

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] CCIE Collaberation

2013-06-03 Thread Leslie Meade
Wonder what this means

http://ciscocert.force.com/english/articles/Article/CCIE-Collaboration-Certification-CCIE-Voice-can-be-recertified-EN?retURL=%2Fenglish%2Fapex%2Finstantanswers%3FproductCategory%3DCCIE_collaborationpopup=false

The CCIE Collaboration certification does not directly affect current CCIE
Voice certification holders. Current CCIE Voice holders will be able to
recertify by passing any CCIE exam including the new CCIE Collaboration written
or lab exams.

The CCIE Collaboration certification provides new career opportunities for CCIE
Voice certification holders

Granted we all know that taking any CCIE Written will allow us to remain
CCIE's even if Voice is retired, but I think the frustration is Voice and
Collaboration are not THAT far apart and no matter how you look at it, it all
falls under Cisco Unified Communications, which is what the name of the new
CCIE really should be anyway. The core of the Voice blueprint is still
there. The Collaboration equipment list looks like a refresh of current
products, not a forklift of one technology replacing another.

In my opinion this was too harsh of a move to retire Voice and start over
again with Collaboration. There are too many similarities between the two.

 Retired CCIE tracks

Some previously awarded CCIE specializations have been retired by Cisco.
 These are:

  * WAN Switching CCIE (Essentially a specialisation focusing on the IGX/BPX
switch products, which had been acquired as part of the
 StrataComhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StrataCom acquisition)
  *   ISP Dial CCIE
  * SNA/IP Integration CCIE (aka CCIE Blue)
  * Design CCIE (NOTE: The CCIE Design and CCDE are completely different
design tests in format and subjects examined)

People who hold these now-retired certifications can remain CCIEs, provided
they continue to take recertification exams. They now hold the title CCIE,
rather than CCIE Security, or some other specialization.

So if we can get official confirmation that we won't be stripped of CCIE if
you pass the voice lab, it might be good, for those of us that have already
passed we don't get a chance to change our minds for those that have yet to
pass, this might be incentive to change your goal.

Hi,

I'm thinking on buying a home lab to start my studies.
It would run around 3K investment according to my amazon shopping list.

However I'm thinking to wait for June and Cisco Live for announcement about the
new version.

I don't expect major changes on the setup, perhaps some new phone models like
99XX, or 89XX on the phones. And upgrade to the routers 29XX.

However I don't expect major new features from the 29XX roll out on the exam.

I would appreciate your opinions on this.

In the real lab I know I have to do some calculations utilizing 95% of the

768k is the 95% from these numbers or what the actual interface can do?

Also what is a simple straight to the point read on this, I really don't want

Make sure you can ping the CUE from R1 (I know that sounds wrong but I have
been able to ping from CUE and not reverse) if not try rebooting the CUE.

I
s the NTP service is actually working on R1 from R3

Sometimes if all is configured but just not working, I will reboot the CUE and
it will work. At this level it is not the most stable platform (NM or AIM?)

the requirement is always for SiteB calling into SiteA voicemail by hitting
Messages button. SiteA is always MGCP gateway. Calling Party Xform isnt any use
on MGCP gateway for incoming calls.

here is another way of doing it ...

Voicemail Pilot for CUC is 2200

call-manager-fallback
voicemail 2777 --- siteB specific

translation-pattern on CUCM to convert 2777 into 2200 and mask calling number
. The CSS of the translation pattern should have access to 2200.

there is no definitive answer as to which solution is graded positively. there
is a reason why many leading CCIE instructors say this is not a test of best
practices but a test of how like able is your solution to the script. .. :)

use a dial-peer that provides RDNIS capabilites to route the caller to the

dial-peer voice 2600 pots

this is the way i get callers into my mailbox - using RDNIS.

1. We had a requirement that National calls are presented with a 10D ANI in

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] dspfarm timers

Hi all

When applying access lists and forcing SRST my dsp resources are taking a long
time to cycle through the available ccm list in my sccp group. To reach the
third choice seems to take forever(haven't timed it), although it does
eventually get there. I would like to speed this up, to save me time while
testing during the lab; I'm pretty sure we wouldn't get marked down for using
the standard timers. Can anyone shed any light on how we reduce the timeout for
ccm being inactive?

sccp ccm group 1
associate ccm 1 priority 1 CM1
associate ccm 2 priority 2 CM2
associate ccm 3 priority 3 SRST-CME
associate profile 1 register HQ-xcode
associate profile 2 register HQ-conf
associate profile 3 register HQ-mtp
switchover method immediate
switchback method immediate
switchback interval 3

Thanks in advance

Well i confirmed today that if using a CUCM-CUE integration at a branch site,
th you will want to setup your MWI to be subscribe/notify when you complete
your CUE integratoin with CUCM. MWI works great when registered to CUCM and
using CUE for VM. When the site fails over in to srst mode and your phone has
an existing MWI on it, this is what you would want to do in order to preserve
that MWI lamp.

1) When integrating your CUE to CUCM choose MWI type subscribe/notify.
2) When building your router config for SRST, make sure to build an
ephone-dn-template that specifies MWI SIP that will get applied to the phones
when they register (under your telephony service).

3) when configuring sip-ua / mwi-server i did not use unsolicited key word

this has allowed the current MWI lamp to stay lit when failover to unified CME
as SRST. When integrating using unsolicited notificiatoins I was not
maintaining the MWI lamp on during failover.

i am using 7975 model phones and i bounced the failover a few times and it
seemed to work pretty consistently. please try at home and let us know if you
have the same results with this if you are interested.

In regards to your second question, I don't think the phone is display the +

I am sorry to hear that. I suffered something similar during my last attempt
but after much thinking I think I know what happened and maybe the same
happened to you.

Even though IPexpert recommends using switchport mode trunk on ESW interfaces I
still had been using switch mode access because it never failed. I also did
this because using switchport mode trunk would show nothing in the show
vlan-switch command so I was scared this was how it was being graded and would
miss the points. IPexpert recommends this because they say the other way has
been known to stop working for no reason.

When I got my score report the next day, I could see several sections wrong
that I knew I configured right. Doing the math I believe when they went to
grade my exam the next day that my CUCME phones were no longer registered. I
will use switchport mode trunk for now on.

What did you do? That is my only theory. Maybe you have one different that
can help others if you choose not to take it again.

I will be back 11/30 and am hoping to do as well as I did last time but pass :)

You can always open a case with the certification support and state
your reasons. While there is no regrade for the voice lab, Cisco has
in the past issued retake vouchers for people who have been wronged by
the grading... if it was indeed the grading issue.

I have done that.

My question is there a cap at 3 years where no matter how many times I have

extended for another 12 months?

Also does anyone know an email or contact person I can ask at Cisco.

Hi,

Many people are talking about a new blueprint for CCIE Voice Lab ( should be
v4).

Did cisco officially announce a syllabus change for CCIE Voice Lab?

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Sip gatekeeper

2012-05-23 Thread Leslie Meade
I am trying to work out my problem here.
While I have no problems getting my sccp and sip (@g728r8) working across the
gatekeeper,
As soon as I hard encode the codec to g711u on the voice register pool, the
phone will ring and I get dead air.
So the fix would e set a transcoder up on the cme to transcode to g728r8. I
have done this and the transcoder is up.

I have tired with and with out a mtp on the trunk and still get the same
results.

Any ideas

So this is from memory and not something I have done more than once or
twice. If I recall you have to set the enterprise data into a parameter
within your script, then launch the desktop administrator and have it pull
in that field. (http://xx.xx.xx.xx:6293/teamadmin/login.cda), from there
you can pull that enterprise data. Now at this point it is sketchy and I
remember even in class we had some issues getting it to work.

Is there something i am missing ?
I did see an error when I was putting changing the qos policy-map in the int,

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Cme to ccm via gatekeeper

2011-03-15 Thread Leslie Meade

It is some type of codec/mtp issue, i think.

If i change the voip dialpeer to include codec g711ulaw on the CME
the call can be put on hold, and recover the rtp stream. (I can hear the other
side again)

If I remove the codec from the voip dial-peer, the codec is G729r8 all the way
though and the phone on the ccm can put the call on hold.
But when i press resume I can not hear the other side.

I have a MTP assigned to the HQ device pool and also to the GK.

I have blown everything away and i have got the same thing again.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Route list unregistered

2011-02-19 Thread Leslie Meade
When I make a new Route list, it will not become registered.

Any idea what causes this to happen ? When I remove the gateway from the route
group, and add it to the route pattern the call completes.

I think i may have a bad image.. can any one tell me where to start to look to
prove, to my self that it is indeed a bad image or other wise .
When I reboot the server the route list comes registered but it will become
unregistered.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Volume 2 Lab 1 4.3

2011-01-14 Thread Leslie Meade
The previous question is this,

The gw-type-prefix table on the gatekeeper should be as shown- only the items
in bold are important

HQ-RTR(config-gk)#do sh gatekeeper gw
buffer used: 510, size: 20480
GATEWAY TYPE PREFIX TABLE
=
Prefix: 1#*(Default gateway-technology)
  Zone UCM master gateway list:
10.10.200.20:53373 gk-trunk_2
10.10.200.10:47991 gk-trunk_1
   Zone UCME master gateway list:
10.10.110.3:1720 BR2-RTR

So buy my guess this breaks the above requirement ?

HQ-RTR(config-gk)#do sh gatekeeper gw

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] lab 6 QOS question

I have been looking at the WAN FRF.12 configs and I do not understand something.

In all the examples the following has been advised.

FRF.12 ( average values)

Layer 2 7 bytes

Layer 3 2 bytes

Media 20 bytes

29 * .008 * 50 = 11.6

Why in this lab it is different

FRF.12

Layer 2 8 bytes

Layer 3 40 bytes à ??

Media 20 bytes

68* .008 * 50 = 27.2

I might be missing something but, I do not fully understand where the 40 bytes

 Hi, people!

In video clip for Task 2.1 of Volume 2 Lab 1, I saw Vik used some kind of
7962 emulation software, that is looks not like CIPC or IP Blue.
It looks much like CIPC, but he was able run two instances of this program
 simultaneously.

Which kind of software is this, and how to get it for my studies?

 Thanks!

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] extension Mobility

2010-09-08 Thread Leslie Meade
Can you have the same number both as an extension mobility number as
well as a normal number on a phone ?

I get the user logged into mobility but when they try to log out I get
please enter the admin password, instead of a logout button .

Cheers

Yes, you can. They will show up and act as a shared line.

Is the system prompting you for a PIN, or what specifically?

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] MVA issue

2010-05-27 Thread Leslie Meade
I know that general support is not the best option here. But I will
ask..

I just noticed that my MVA is not working. Users can log into the system
and attempt to dial, but the then get dead air

Debugs show that some where I am appending an extra 7 to the remote
destination profile, but I do not understand where.

I am not using any transformation patterns, the gateway is not adding
any digits.. The debug from vxml app on the gateway is showing correct
numbers, debug ccapi is also showing correct, it is something on the
Callmanager that is doing this. How can I track down what is adding the
7 ?

Don't think your issue is with the code. It's likely with the format of the
credentials. Often when dealing with LDAP, you have to put the credentials in
the form of an AD specification. Something like:

DN=Administrator,CN=Users,CN=Domain,CN=com

I've probably got the attributes confused (I always have to go to my notes
which aren't currently available to me) to see which ones are CN and which are
DN), but you get the idea. You must do it this way if you're binding LDAP in
CCM 6 or 7.

I found out how to set it up and i have struck another issue.
When I do a search I get the XML Error [4]: Parse Error. I looked at the iis
logs and get invalid credentials I am using the Multidirectory ASP file in the
SDK from cisco. With this line

dirs[0] = new Directory(XX Directory, 10.1.X.X, ou=XX group, ou=ipusers,
ou=XXX, 389, cn=XXX, ou=users, ou=XXX, XXX, );

This is the IIS error,
