Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] SIP Phone Registration Rejected

2010-03-15 Thread Robertico Gonzalez
The problem was the Security by default feature. The phones were
registering to a different cluster before. I deleted the ITL files from the
phones and they were able to register.

4 Security Configuration; 5- Trust List; 2 ITL File; **#; Erase.

Thanks,
RG

 Pretty common mistake.
Looks like you registered a 79xx phone as 79yy while manually adding it.
Double check the phone type from the phone settings menu

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] cRTP

2008-10-04 Thread Robertico Gonzalez
Hi,

cRTP compresses IP/UDP/RTP headers from 40 bytes to between two and five
bytes (which results in a bandwidth savings of approximately 66% for G.729
VoIP). (Page 25, QoS SRND Version 3.3)

I have seen calculations done with 4 or 2 bytes when cRTP is enabled. What
number should I use in my calculations?

Thanks,
-rg

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] MGCP Gateway: ccm-manager config

2008-09-08 Thread Robertico Gonzalez
Hi,

I have in my notes that it is not recommended to use the MGCP ccm-manager
config and ccm-manager config server commands. I always use these commands
in my lab and I can't recall the reason the instructor said that it was a
bad idea to use these commands. Does somebody remember why the instructor
made that recommendation?

I have some notes saying that these commands would enter 24 timeslots
instead of 3 timeslots in the pri-group command. But that doesn't seem to
be a big deal (just change that command).

Thanks,
-rg

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] PSTN and Frame Relay switch simulator

2008-08-29 Thread Robertico Gonzalez
Hi,

I am trying to setup my own CCIE Voice Lab.

Does anyone have the configuration of the router used to simulate the PSTN
and the Frame Relay switch?

What router and modules do I need to get?

Thanks,

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] SIP Gateways

2008-08-21 Thread Robertico Gonzalez
Hi,

Page 35 of the IP Expert CCIE Voice course states that SIP gateways
are NOT supported by Call Manager 4.1.(3). However, nothing prevents
an administrator to point a SIP trunk to a SIP gateway. I would think that
SIP gateways are supported and are fair game on the lab exam. Could
someone clarify?

-rg
