[ccp4bb] postdoc on cryo-tomography of COPII at Birkbeck College

2019-10-01 Thread Giulia Zanetti
Dear all,

applications for the first of two postdoctoral positions in my lab are now open.

We use cryo-EM to understand COPII coat assembly and membrane remodelling. In
particular, we employ cryo-tomography and subtomogram averaging to achieve
detailed views of the coat assembled on membranes (see Hutchings et al., Nat
Comm. 2018).
Our lab is part of the vibrant cryo-EM community at ISMB, Birkbeck College,
where we have access to state-of-the-art facilities.

Please do get in touch with me if you would like to know more about this
BBSRC-funded project. Closing date for applications is 31st October 2019.

Giulia

[ccp4bb] DLS/CCP4 data analysis workshop 2019

2019-10-01 Thread David Waterman
PhD students, postdocs and early career scientists,

Please consider applying for the sixth joint DLS/CCP4 workshop on MX data
collection and structure solution, to be held at Diamond Light Source, UK
from the 1st to the 8th December 2019.

This course offers the opportunity for you to work alongside leaders in the
field of MX on data from your own crystals. For more details please check
here:

http://www.ccp4.ac.uk/schools/DLS-2019/

The workshop has been very successful in previous years, as shown by
acknowledgements given in publications from attendees of the course:

http://www.ccp4.ac.uk/schools/DLS-school/index.php

The application period is now open and will* close on the 18th October*.
Applicants will be required to submit a CV/resume, describe their projects
and obtain a letter of support from a supervisor, so please do not wait
until the last minute to apply! Those with crystals and/or data will be
given priority.

Best wishes on behalf of the organisers,

David Waterman (CCP4)

[ccp4bb] no tNCS and Phaser manuals

2019-10-01 Thread Herman . Schreuder
Dear community,

I wanted to switch off the tNCS for a Phaser run, but could not find any Phaser
manuals online, explaining how to do this.
So I have two questions:

  1. How do I switch off tNCS in Phaser and
  2. Are there any phaser manuals online? I tried hard to find them using
Bing, but the websites were either not present, not available or could not be
found. It may be that our firewall is also blocking certain sites although most
sites are accessible.

Thank you very much for your help!
Herman

Re: [ccp4bb] 2Fo-Fc maps in Coot vs. Pymol

2019-10-01 Thread Chris Fage
Dear Murpholino,

Yes, I think you're right. For now, directly exporting my maps from Coot is
the most efficient solution. The normalization commands will certainly be
helpful to me and other users in the future, though. Thanks!

Best,
Chris
