WTB: Display for my VAXStations

2017-01-23 Thread Ulrich Tagge

Hi Folks,

I search for a working original DEC Display for my VAXStation (4000/90 &
4000/60) like the VRT16 or VRT19.

Anyone here, who is interested to let one go, to have more free space? ;-)

Please only offers from Germany in the near (200km) of Frankfurt am
Main, as shipping would not be an option.

Many Greetings
Ulrich

Re: Are DEC TK50/TK70 tapes worth hanging onto?

2016-10-20 Thread Ulrich Tagge

Hi,

I search some time for TK50/TK70 media for my MVII, and 3600 so I'm
Interested.

By now I have the need for the following tapes, if you have them.

biggest need>>>
- MVII DIAG MAINT TK50
>>>

- MVII DIAG CUST TK50
- VMS V5.5-1 BIN TK50
- VMX XYZ BIN TK50 xx/nn
- VMS LIC KEY BIN TK50
- MICROVMS xyz BIN TK50
- DEC TCP/IP SER VMS xyz TK50

And any other MVII or Microvax 3600 TK70 related Tape ;-).

I know, that there is only a 50% chance, that they are still readable,
but with view onto my QIC and other old media, it looks like I have some
luck, in using old tape media.

DEC TU81 - "Logic Off" permanently illuminated-

2016-03-06 Thread Ulrich Tagge

Hi All,

maybe someone can help me to bring my TU81 back to life again.

I have checked the following, before turning on:

- All capacitors on the Mail Power Supply and the one below the vacuum
pump are fine

> OK
- Voltages check
> OK
- Fuses
> The Fuse for the diagnostics power connector was burned: changed

Problem is, that the "Logic Off" is constantly illuminated, after
turning on.

I had a look into the Tx81 Pathfinder documentation, and checked the
following.

- Check if Blower is running
> OK
- Disconnecting all DC connectors
> Same result

Pathfinder tells me changing the power supply.

I hear only an relay clicking when turning on the Power Supply, also,
when nothing is connected, in this time the "Logic Off" light blinks one
time.

I think, that the power supply checks itself that the voltages are OK,
and that this fails.

Any hints or tips?

Many Greetings
Ulrich

Re: PDP-11/84 (KDJ11-B) and Error 61

2016-02-02 Thread Ulrich Tagge

Hi Glen,

many thanks.

Problem was, that I had no clue, how to bypass the error to enter the setup
mode. As Ctrl C was not working.

I have in the meantime found in the KDJ11-D/S dokumentation, that (CTRL + O) (4)
Enter" do it.

Now I have set all setup parameters to the same as on the working KDJ11-B and
it boots up without errors.

Here my parms:

Type a command then press the RETURN key: 2

List/change parameters in the Setup table

A - ANSI Video terminal (1) 0=No, 1=Yes = 1
B - Power up 0=Dialog, (1)=Automatic, 2=ODT, 3=24 = 1
C - Restart 0=Dialog, (1)=Automatic, 2=ODT, 3=24 = 1
D - Ignore battery 0=No, 1=Yes = 0
E - PMG 0-(7) 1=.4us, 2=.8, 3=1.6, 4=3.2,...7=25.6 = 7
F - Disable clock CSR0=No, 1=Yes = 0
G - Force clock interrupts 0=No, 1=Yes = 0
H - Clock 0=Power supply, 1=50Hz, 2=60Hz, 3=800Hz = 1
I - Enable ECC test (1) 0=No, 1=Yes = 1
J - Disable long memory test 0=No, 1=Yes = 0
K - Disable ROM 0=No, 1=Dis 165, 2=Dis 173, 3=Both = 0
L - Enable trap on Halt 0=No, 1=Yes = 0
M - Allow alternate boot block 0=No, 1=Yes = 1
N - Disable Setup mode 0=No, 1=Yes = 0
O - Disable all testing 0=No, 1=Yes = 0
P - Enable Unibus memory test (1)0=No, 1=Yes = 0
Q - Disable UBA ROM 0=No, 1=Yes = 0
R - Enable UBA cache (1) 0=No, 1=Yes = 1
S - Enable 18 Bit mode 0=No, 1=Yes = 0

The trick was Parm "H" which was set to "0".

If you have one M8190 KDJ11-B which works fine and another one which
has this error when swapped into the same system you should check the
EEPROM configuration options between the two and see if the LTC
options are configured differently between the two.

http://www.bitsavers.org/pdf/dec/pdp11/1173/EK-KDJ1B-UG_KDJ11-B_Nov86.pdf

2.3 EEPROM CONFIGURATION PARAMETERS
Table 2-6 Configuration Parameters
H - Disable clock CSR (0)=No (1)=Yes
I - Force clock interrupts (0)=No (1)=Yes
J - Clock frequency (0)=Power supply (1)=50Hz (2)=60Hz (3)=800Hz

If the LTC parameters are configured differently between the two try
changing the parameters of the non working one to match the parameters
of the working one.

PDP-11/84 (KDJ11-B) and Error 61

2016-02-01 Thread Ulrich Tagge

Hi List,

I have a working 11/84, and I have decidec, to test some of my spare
cards, starting with: KDJ11-B.

I see the following error, when powering up the system, which points me
to the Clock.

>>
Error 61
M8190 clock Error

See troubleshooting documentation

CommandDescription

   1 Rerun test
   2 Loop on test

Type a command then press the RETURN key:
>>

Any hints, what the problem could be? Is the clock in this new PDP's
still generated out of the line frequency? Could it by, that the KDJ11-B
is configured to a wrong HZ value?
