Estoy manejando en todos los mimso Vbox y SO. Solamente me falla en 1. Creéis que sea pro que se me ha desconfigurado algo o no se. Lo extraño es eso, qeu sólo es un equipo. Yo aquí con mis problemas. Estoy instalando máquinas preparadas en Vbox. En todos los equipos funciona perfectamente menos en 1. En ese 1 lo que pasa es qeu cuando en la interfaz de red le pongo Bridged adapter, que es como tendría qeu funcionar, pues no le coge IP. Y le tendría que coger dicha IP por dhcp. No tengo ni idea de a que se puede deber, de hecho el icono de la red indica qeu tiene el cable conectado y parece como que recibe peor una vez se inicia el Windows XP, no agarra IP. La versión de VirtualBox es la última, descargada esta mañana y perfectamente instalada, sobre un Centos 5.2. Las máquinas que estoy instalando son WXP SP3. Y poca información mas puedo daros. Puedes usar vmware server 2, que es libre y tienes una consola de administracion basada en web. Saludos. Quisiera me ayudaran con sus opiniones sobre virtualizacion para un entorno de servidores. He cachareado Xen y hace algunos dias vi una consola de Vmware que me parecio muy buena pero no es gratis aunque :) KVM nunca lo he tocado. Lo que me intereza es virtualizar 2 servidores windows y mantener los otros con Centos. Mi pregunta ¿Que ustedes me recomiendan como soft para virtualizar servers KVM, XEN, Vmware? La recomendacion que te hace Alvaro no es la mas etica que digamos. Si tienes aplicaciones libres para que quieres piratear alguna comercial. Lo primero que deberiamos saber es para que quieres virtualizar? Es un workstation? servidores? Luego que maquina posees? cuantos containers virtuales quieres? Yo estoy usando openvz, que si bien no tiene, en principio, administracion grafica, desde consola es muy facil. De todas maneras existen aplicacione en php que administran los container(maquinas virtuales) Tambien Xen es muy bueno. VMWare server es gratis, pero no se si para este ya necesitas tener montado el X en tu servidor(los 2 anteriores no) Virtualbox, que esta orientado a ser competencia de vmware workstation, es libre y anda muy bien, necesita X. como dije anteriormente, existe una version libre de vmware server tanto para linux como para windows en su version 2 y posteriores( la 1.x requiere sistema grafico para su instalacion), para el caso de linux, se instala desde la consola y no necesitas de ningun modo grafico, ya que cuenta con un administrador por web. Para descargarlo solo llenas un formulario con algunos datos y te dan el key del producto. dependiendo de la distribucion, requiere tener algunos programas y compiladores instalados. manuales sobre vmware y otros (openvz, zen, etc) los puedes encontrar en www.howtoforge.org. puedes instalar un firewall en un pc III (minimo) con 512 Mb RAM (Minimo) y un disco de 5 GB (minimo) con dos o tres tarjetas de red (dependiendo del tipo de firewall que desees implementar), el equipo que propones aprovechalo en algun otro servicio (pueder ser un servidor web, o correo, o bases de datos, etc.) o virtualizarlo para tener todos esos servicios. The nice thing here is that I can use the same IP for both installs. Being continually low on available IP's for this department, this is super! Note that it is also possible to set up VMware and perhaps virtualbox to be able to boot the alternate OS as a virtual machine so you can run both at once if you like. If you don't have the enterprise-licensed version of windows you might need to run it as the host, though. Otherwise it will want to be re-licensed every time you switch between virtual and physical boots and it sees different hardware. [CentOS] centos 5.2 install: mbr or no bootloader ?
I recently used a purchased centos 5.2 dvd to install. It all went smoothly, and I am up and running automagically it seems to have upgraded itself to 5.3 Final One peculiarity: I believe I was given the choice of: --installing the bootloader into mbr or --no bootloader install I did not want my mbr overwritten, so I chose no bootloader Why is there no choice of 1st sector of root partition? or did I just miss it? I wanted to chainload the centos install, but that requires grub installed into 1st sector of root partition. So after the os install I used knoppix livecd to grub root (hd1,4) # sdb5 is my centos partition setup (hd1,4) and centos now loads from a chainloader +1in my grub partition So I have fixed it; but curious as to why the install dvd didn't give me the choice there. I also have src.rpm's here: http://www.clfsrpm.net/php/ I use to maintain binary repo but that's a lot of work I no longer have time for. If I'm not mistaken, the Oracle src.rpm's are based on Fedora. So are mine, except mine also has the suhosin core patch.
