Ah could potentially be useful as long as it doesn't internally require cfreateobject(java) like cfdump does. Obviously it would require all the frameworks to be rewritten to use this before it will be helpful to hosts and allow them to keep createobject(java) disabled. Seriously? There are many thousands or hundreds of thousands of programs out there that were written before OOP even existed in many different languages, including your operating system. Perhaps YOU are not able to produce well written programs without OOP or CFC's, but that does not apply to everyone else on the planet, and many people still continue to do so. Can you please do these steps to know the cause of the issue so that I can help accordingly. 1.Launch ColdFusion Builder.In the Help Menu click on Adobe ColdFusion Builder Registartion... .If it opens the registration window then it is NOT licensing issue. Probably you would have run the updater but didn't start CFB with -clean option. If you have run the updater please start the CFB from command prompt with -clean option ( CFBuilder.app/MacOS/Contents/CFBuilder -clean - There are typos here you can see for the actual names on Mac. ) If you are on Windows CFBuilder -clean.If you are using the eclipse use the paths accordingly. 2.When you click on HelpAdobe ColdFusion Builder Registartion... if it throws a message like 'this operation is not supported' means there may be license issue.If this is the case please send me the /tmp/amt.log file. Hello Folks, I'm investigating cloud computing to see if it is a viable option for our company. So far it looks promising although there does seem to be lots of reports of fluctuating performance (I would assume this because of 'noisy neighbours..' , but otherwise it looks promising. I have been testing the AWS library (http://awsconsole.riaforge.org/) , but its from 2008 and uses an older version of the API (v1 rather than v2). I tried upgrading it to support 2.0, but with no luck. Has anyone already done this? Is there a better way? Also, the Adobe private beta of CF9 which indicated it included some support for AWS, was announced over a year ago. Is there any information about when that support will be released or what will be included? Thanks for your input! The only support I am aware of is that CF 9.0.1 can treat Amazon S3 as a local file system ala CFFile and CFdirectory and some functions. Should a getMemento method return the results of getters if they exist?
In the cfproperty-oriented world, where properties get dumped into the variables scope along with your methods and anything else there, many folks including me have written getMemento methods to return a struct with the values of the object's declared properties, only. Do you suppose methods like this should use the values returned by getters where they exist? Or just the raw internal data? If you're populating another instance of the object from this result, I suppose it would depend on whether that object had similar getters, and maybe setters too; you wouldn't want to get data already processed by a getter, then process it again in its new home. OTOH, if the receiving object is dumb, you might want the formatted/defaulted/logi-processed version that a getter would return. So maybe it's a context-specific thing. My impression is that the memento itself is a dumb value object only, no getters or setters, so it seems like getters should be used when you get the data out of a smarter object that has them. Or should there be a flag to enable getters? If so, what's its default? Any thoughts? Roger, What about using null=#isDate(form.contributed)# ? Would you want to add the yesNoFormat before the isDate as in Dave's suggestion? As to the second part, I am checking using ColdFusion's cfform methods within cfinput prior to submitting the information. Okay, I've been banging my head against this for a while. It looks so easy! I am trying to simply list a directories contents using CF 9.01's new S3 integration. My application.cfc has: - this.s3.accessKeyid = 'yourmamassofat'; this.s3.awsSecretKey= 'howfastisshe?'; - And I am trying a simple: - directoryList(s3://mybuck/myfolder/) - I get an error - An error occurred when performing a file operation create on file s3://mybucket/myfolder/. The cause of this exception was: org.apache.commons.vfs.FileSystemException: Unknown message with code S3 Error Message... - The bucket is newly created, using default permissions (which indicate that the owner, me, has full access). Does anyone know whats wrong with this picture? Note, I get the same error if I use an invalid accesskey. I've triple checked the key and it appears valid... I use Coldfusion in my Site Admin for my clients to design their pages and then When they update it writes all the pages to plain html for SEO as well as speed. If there is a command it would save me a bunch of time programming instead of Deleting the extra dashes by hand. In case its a permission issue on your bucket try setting the ACL for everyone to read - better still make a test bucket and set everything on that bucket to read,write and full control. iirc, the 3-dash cf comment does not trip html validation. the 3rd dash is considered the first character of comment text. i do not ever remember having trouble with cf comments in W3C validator. Haven't followed this whole thread, not sure what you're doing, but the CFML comment sequence should never print through to the output at all, ***when interpreted by a CFML engine***. If you're reading the file somehow, then it's not being handled as CFML, and you'll have to deal wiht it according to your circumstances. But as CFML, the validator hsould never see it, because it doesn't render on the page. It's a comment, not HTML. Ok, let's see if I can clarify my request. I am requesting a way, any way to possibly create a keyboard shortcut within Homesite to let me create a HTML comment in my pages. I do not know how to create this and am asking for help in that regard only. I have had quite a few replies and thanks for those, but none of them are addressing my request. I have written my own CFM that allows me to give a small business person a website they easily control. I give them a back end that is written in Coldfusion that I customize to fill each sites needs. There is a command that updates their pages, which rewrites every page on the front end of their site to plain jane HTML which runs extremely fast and is very search engine friendly. I have commented quite a bit of the code to make it easy for me to add, update, or otherwise grow this contraption from time to time. I only want to make my life a little easier by not having to do what I've been doing forever and deleting the extra dashes. Period. If someone could show me how to write a function in Homesite PLEASE reply.
