Coldfusion fails to start
Hi Folks, I have been patching up a new CF801 install today, and have reached the point of running the Jrun updater 7. Up to this point I had successfully installed patches and had CF running fine on the built in JVM, and then on 6u27. To install updater 7, I had to install JDK 1.4.2_19 so the installer would work. Having done that, and having both JVM's installed, I happily ran the updater to Jrun4 update 7 CF will now not restart. I have put the JVM config, and followed the steps on a cftalk thread that reports exactly the same error as I have in the c:\Jrun4\logs\admin-out.log I see this: Error loading: C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.6.0_27/jre\bin\server\jvm.dll Error loading: C:/JRun4/jre\bin\server\jvm.dll I have uninstalled the 6u27, restarted etc and cant get a win here. I also followed a thread about msvcr71.dll creeping in somewhere, and have spotted this, and replaced the file, although the file sizes were identical. I have not gone to a reinstall of CF yet, because I am hoping someone can shed some light on this for me. Any help greatly appreciated. 64bit CF801 Enterprise, std JVM. Standalone machine with Win 2008 web edition, 64 bit. Done the 801 updater 4 as well, everything was running fine until doing the 1.4 and jrun updater. . -- Duncan I Loxton duncan.lox...@gmail.com ~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/message.cfm/messageid:346858 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/unsubscribe.cfm

One cause for that exception is if your session variable timeouts don't match the J2EE session timeout (configured in jrun-web.xml and defaults to 30 minutes). So if the J2EE timeout is less than your session timeout, you can run into this condition. One thing that might remedy the situation would be to add the following to your onSessionStart() in Application.cfc: cfset getPageContext().getRequest().getSession().setMaxInactiveInterval(numSeconds) Where numSeconds matches the length of your ColdFusion session timeout. I've never tried that solution, but it seams to me like it might work, please let us know. -- Pete Freitag - Adobe Community Professional http://foundeo.com/ - ColdFusion Consulting Products http://petefreitag.com/ - My Blog http://hackmycf.com - Is your ColdFusion Server Secure? ~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/message.cfm/messageid:346862 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/unsubscribe.cfm

Re: Invoke Java method
Think about what the code is doing for a second :) It is still trying to pass in all strings instead of a mix of strings and complex objects. It may not seem like it, but using a java method is not much different than calling a plain old CF function. Both define what arguments they expect as well the type (array, date, string, etcetera). Take the CF function arrayLen(). It expects to receive an array and complains loudly if you accidentally pass in the wrong type of value, like a string or number: cfset x = arrayLen(thisWillFail) That is what your current code is doing. It is passing in the right +number+ of arguments. They are just the wrong type of values. sendResponse(javax.servlet.ServletContext, ) sendReponse expects a javax.servlet.ServletContext object as the first argument. Do a cfdump of getPageContext().getServletContext(). You will see that is exactly what it returns. But instead of passing it in as is, the code tries to convert it into string first: JavaCast(string, getPageContext().getServletContext() ) Obviously that does work because your method exepcts a ServletContext object there, not a string. So get rid of the javacast. In fact get rid of all of them. I doubt you even need them to call this particular method. ~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/message.cfm/messageid:346864 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/unsubscribe.cfm
Re: (ot) MS SSIS (BIDS) 2008 options
Steve, Yes, there is an SSIS template file that you can modify to use as the basis of all new SSIS files. The setting in question comes from the default template (which is an XML file). This works for most of the file choices that you see when creating a new file inside of Visual Studio. The template files are inside of the Visual Studio folder on a user's hard drive. As far as sharing templates across a group and keeping all of them is sync, that is a different problem, as the templates are located in folders on each developer's workstation. Search for SSIS Package Template You shouldn't have to delete the package and start over again based on that encryption setting. Just have the package creator open the package, change the setting, and resave it. -Mike Chabot http://www.linkedin.com/in/chabot On Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 11:45 AM, DURETTE, STEVEN J (ATTASIAIT) sd1...@att.com wrote: Hi all, Sorry for the OT, but my Google foo has failed me! Database fail over advice
Greetings, My boss has asked me to come up with a plan of action in case one of our databases is off line or if we loose connectivity to it. In this setup we have one DB in one location and another one at a different ISP. I think he wants a solution in which if its possible that CF would be able to make the change if some sort of situation were to occur and we can't reach site A. One thing that I thought of would be to run a simple query and if it times out or we get a DB error then we would switch to the alternate DB. I have just started thinking about this scenario and since I have never been tasked with this type of challenge before I thought I would ask. Re: Database fail over advice
I presume you already have the database clustering sorted and just want to handle the CF DSN side of things ? The easy way to do this is to have 2 DSN's, one pointing to each server. In your OnRequest method simply check the database connection, if it fails, switch to the other DSN.
