Re: Wait for File to Get Written

2012-05-29 Thread AJ Mercer

maybe use cfdirectory and look at 'dateLastModified' to wait for it to be
2~5 old (so you know it has finished writing to it)

I would make a retry loop, say 5 times with a sleep in between
and break out if file found

Wait for File to Get Written

2012-05-29 Thread Mary Jo Sminkey

I've run into this a number of times the last few months and couldn't find
anything in the archives that really seemed to address it. It's a common enough
issue that I'm sure people have dealt with it, and I'm curious what solutions
you might use.

Basically I have situations where I need to wait for ColdFusion to finish
creating a file before displaying it. The legacy code I'm working with using a
cfexecute to run an executable file, and it uses this code snippet:

So basically it loops until it finds the file and then sends it down via a
cfcontent tag.

I'm not particularly fond of this as if for any reason the executable fails,
you end up waiting for a timeout situation. In the past I've used a sleep() to
just pause the page but that's not particularly ideal either.

Any better options, or maybe a combination of the two?

I thought of that. American Express might work with me. I spend a
lot with them and they're pretty aggressive for their good customers,
but I would rather not use a nuclear weapon on a valued source if I
can avoid it.

CF 10 upgrade from Adobe... Can anyone confirm I am hosed here?

2012-05-29 Thread Money Pit

Just spent a fair bit of time getting sent from customer service, to
sales, to another sales guy, to customer service and then back to
sales. All but the last said the next person would be able to handle
this for me:

Late March I buy a CF9 std upgr from CF8. Get it around April 1 and off I go.

So CF10 comes out and of course I am hoping to get that upgrade. The
Adobe web site says upgrading from CF9 is 749; CF8 is 899. You'd
think I'd be able to do some sort of differential to get into CF10.
i.e. take what I paid and back that off the 899 price. Not expecting
a freebie.

In the end I'm told no dice. Pay another $749.

Really? There was a whole lot of uncertainty - and some "I
understand. I'm sure we can do that" - on the other end of the phone.
I would think if there was really no recourse this would be a powerful
disincentive to buying a product late in its life cycle.

As you mention, there are many. Do you (or anyone else reading) have a
recommendation for one that runs well on 64 bit Win2k8?

I found several articles on starting terracotta automatically, but they seem to
refer to older versionso of windows and software that doesn't seem to exist for
2k8.

This was the problem. Rob had written a really nice dzone article that i
followed to do the upgrade (though I went to the latest version of ehcache,
which was 2.5.2 instead of 2.4.1 as the article discusses)

http://java.dzone.com/articles/building-high-performance

So I have it all upgraded, and it is working.. now I can focus on getting the
configuration all figured out. =)

We are running Windows Firewall ... I did check, from a command prompt, if I
could telnet to localhost 9510 ... and it allowed me in so I don't think the
firewall was affecting it. However, just in case, I added a rule allowing
access through to port 9510.

I did find the following error message in my jrun4/logs/instancename-out.log
(not a place I often look!)

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
net/sf/ehcache/config/TerracottaClientConfiguration

Perhaps the problem here is that I'm using a version of terracotta that is too
modern for Coldfusion 901's version of ehcache. The jar file that I copied was
"ehcache-terracotta-2.5.2.jar" but the two sites I found both mention use
ehcache-terracotta-2.0.0.jar".

I know Rob Brooks site talks about upgrading ehcache so I guess maybe I need to
look into this.

CF9 cfgrid get value from added textbox

2012-05-29 Thread Shaun McCoy

What I am trying to do is get the value of a textbox that I have added to my
grid via button click. Here is the code that I have used so far:

This is where I add the button and textbox.
",currentrow)>
", currentrow)>
Here is the javascript for the button click. ( I know I have to functions that
are doing the same thing, it is two buttons I was just testing to make sure
they were giving me the information I wanted.)
myproxy = new myproxy();
myproxy.setCallbackHandler(handleResult);

function testit(){
var itemID = ColdFusion.getElementValue('items',
'iResults', 'ItemId');
var qty = ColdFusion.getElementValue('items',
'iResults', 'qty2').value;
myproxy.getData(itemID, qty);
}

function testit2(){
var itemID = ColdFusion.getElementValue('items',
'iResults', 'ItemId');
var qty = ColdFusion.getElementValue('items',
'iResults', 'qty2').value;
myproxy.getData(itemID, qty)
}

function handleResult(r){
alert("Result: "+r);
}
Here is the code for the grid.
My
Guide
So far all I have been able to get when I try to reference that column is the
actual code that is used to create the textbox.

Got it working by installing the driver in C:\Coldfusion10\cfusion\lib.

The documentation would have you believe that I should have installed it in
cf_root/lib. Translated literally for me that would have been:
C:\Coldfusion\lib\[driver]. In the CF10 default file structure, however, there
is no cf_root/lib directory. The top level directories under cf_root are:
cfusion, jre, config and uninstalll.
